About Screencheat
Screencheat is a split‑screen arena shooter where every player is invisible, forcing you to glance at opponents’ screens to locate them. The game supplies a range of one‑hit‑kill weapons, each leaving a distinct visual cue such as smoke or fire trails.
Matches support up to eight participants locally, online, or a mix of both, and include solo time‑trial practice and AI bots. Eleven colour‑coded maps and nine game modes can be further shaped by a large selection of mutators and customisation options.
01 / THE GUIDE
Weapons and Visual Cues
The arsenal features items like a blunderbuss that emits smoke, a car engine that fires bouncing plasma balls, and a teddy bear loaded with explosives. Each weapon’s projectile leaves a visual cue that appears on the shared screen.
These cues give players information about opponent locations; for example, the blunderbuss leaves smoke behind while the Hobby Horse leaves a trail of fire, each revealing where the shooter has been.
- Watch the cue type to infer where an opponent is firing from.
- Choose weapons whose cues match the level of visual clarity you prefer.

Game Modes
Screencheat offers nine modes, ranging from classic Deathmatch to the unique Murder Mystery. Modes can be played as free‑for‑all or in teams, accommodating different group sizes.
All modes retain the core invisible‑player mechanic, but objectives differ—objectives differ from mode to mode—so each match feels distinct.
- Try Murder Mystery for a change of pace from standard Deathmatch.
- Experiment with team settings to see which dynamic suits your group.

Maps and Landmarks
Eleven maps feature colour‑coded zones and landmarks such as statues, paintings, and furniture. Air vents and trampolines add vertical movement options.
These visual landmarks help you orient yourself when you cannot see opponents directly; recognizing a familiar statue or painted wall can give you a tactical edge.
- Memorise the placement of key landmarks to speed up map learning.
- Use trampolines to gain height and improve your screen view.

Customisation and Mutators
Players can select which weapons are allowed, set swap and reload rules, adjust time limits, and modify victory conditions. Mutators such as slow mode, low gravity, or flappy jump can be stacked.
These options let groups tailor each match to their preferences, whether they want a fast‑paced shootout or a whimsical physics‑defying bout.
- Combine low gravity with flappy jump for a light‑hearted aerial match.
- Limit weapon choices to focus on mastering specific visual cues.

Local and Online Play
Screencheat supports matches with up to eight participants, either locally on the same screen or online, and can mix both types of players. Solo time trials and AI bots are also available for practice.
Full controller support and Steam features such as Remote Play Together allow friends to join a session from another location, expanding the ways you can gather a party.
- Start with solo time trials to learn map layouts before joining a full match.
- Mix local and online players to test different latency conditions.
