About Scavland

Scavland drops you into Zalesye, a war‑torn land shrouded in a mysterious Mist. As a Vulture, you scavenge the remnants of the old world, battling mutants, radiation, and scarce ammunition while trying to survive each expedition.

The game blends open‑world exploration with deep reputation mechanics. Your choices with factions, traders, and survivors shape the gear, jobs, and story threads you encounter as you push farther into the wastes and uncover the secrets of the Mist.

01 / THE GUIDE

Zalesye and the Mist

Zalesye is a handcrafted open world scarred by war and a pervasive Mist. Abandoned settlements, irradiated swamps, and dangerous forests litter the surface, while underground bunkers add procedural variety to each playthrough. The further you stray from known roads, the greater the danger and potential reward.

The Mist is a central mystery; soldiers from a distant land without Mist once shot you, yet you survived. Exploring the East beyond the RO‑29 Highway may reveal a promised land untouched by the Mist, but its truth remains uncertain.

  • Carry extra radiation protection before venturing into swamps.
  • Map underground entrances early to avoid getting lost.

02 / THE GUIDE

Factions and Reputation

Zalesye hosts various factions, settlements, traders, and scavengers, each pursuing their own survival goals. Completing quests and jobs for them builds reputation, influencing how they treat you and unlocking new items and opportunities.

Your choices shape relationships; some groups aim to rebuild society, others merely survive. Reputation therefore determines which quests, gear, and story paths become available as you progress.

  • Prioritize jobs that align with a faction you wish to ally with.
  • Avoid antagonizing multiple groups in the same area.

03 / THE GUIDE

Above and Below Exploration

The surface world features abandoned structures, forests, and irradiated zones, while hidden entrances lead to underground bunkers with procedurally generated layouts. Both layers contain loot, enemies, and story fragments.

Exploring deeper yields higher rewards but also escalates risk. Preparation before each foray—such as checking ammo and radiation levels—can mean the difference between returning with valuable loot or not returning at all.

  • Mark discovered bunker entrances on your map.
  • Carry a backup weapon in case of jams.

04 / THE GUIDE

Weapon Building and Customization

Weapons can be collected and modified with attachments found throughout Zalesye. Changing components lets you tailor firearms to your preferred playstyle, balancing risk, ammo scarcity, and potential jams.

Your loadout should reflect the environment you plan to enter—whether you need a reliable sidearm for close encounters or a scoped rifle for distant threats. Experimentation is encouraged to find configurations that suit each expedition.

  • Test new attachments in a safe area before heading out.
  • Keep spare parts for quick field repairs.

05 / THE GUIDE

Jobs, Trade, and Reputation Cycle

Traders sell weapons, supplies, and attachments, but their best stock must be earned through jobs and requests. Completing work for them raises your reputation, unlocking new items and opportunities.

Each expedition follows a cycle: Prepare, Explore, Scavenge, Survive, Return, Upgrade, and then go deeper. This loop reinforces the importance of planning, resource management, and relationship building with Zalesye’s inhabitants.

  • Stock up on essential supplies before long trips.
  • Focus on jobs that reward gear you currently lack.
