About Scamper

Scamper places you in the role of a rat navigating split timelines. By adjusting the frequency of your energy you can move between high‑frequency tropical realms and low‑frequency sewer‑city shadows, each shifting subtly on each entry. Your core task is to locate a lost fellow rat and guide it to safety, using quick hand and arm motions.

The game supports both solo and cooperative play, allowing you to team up with other rats online. It runs on Windows and includes tracked controller support, while also offering VR‑only experiences and cross‑platform multiplayer features.

01 / THE GUIDE

Frequency Mechanics

Scamper lets you adjust the frequency of your energy, which determines which timeline you experience. High frequency presents vibrant tropical flora, fauna, water features and caves, while low frequency drops you into dark sewers beneath a cold city.

The frequency is never exactly the same, so each visit feels slightly different, creating a dynamic sense of change each time you enter an environment.

  • Experiment with small frequency tweaks to notice subtle environmental shifts.
  • Observe how time of day changes in high‑frequency areas for navigation cues.

02 / THE GUIDE

Environment Variation

High‑frequency zones are filled with tropical plants, animals, water, and underground caves, with nature constantly alive and the time of day always changing. Low‑frequency zones descend into darkness, featuring sewer systems and a cold city above.

Both environments react to your frequency adjustments, causing the scenery to shift slightly each time you enter, keeping exploration fresh.

  • Use the changing time of day in high‑frequency areas to orient yourself.
  • Remember that the city above the sewers is haunted by echoes of civilization.
