About Scale the Depths
Scale the Depths puts you in the role of a tiny robot fishmonger who must catch, scale, and serve fish to a cast of unusual patrons. The core loop mixes casual fishing with a cash‑for‑upgrades system that lets you improve gear, boats, and cosmetics.
Four fishing locations—Loch Ness, the Outer Banks, Point Nemo, and a fourth unnamed spot—each have their own atmosphere, species, hidden passages, puzzles, and lore. Deeper dives introduce stranger creatures and story fragments, turning a simple job into a surreal exploration.
01 / THE GUIDE
Distinct Fishing Spots
Each of the four locations draws inspiration from a real‑world place and supplies a unique visual mood, specific fish species, and environmental secrets. Players can wander the waters, discover hidden passages, and solve puzzles and search for treasures and artifacts.
The deeper a player ventures, the more the settings shift away from ordinary fishing, adding strange creatures and lore that expand the narrative beyond the basic catch‑and‑sell loop.
- Note visual cues that hint at fish habitats; they often indicate where rarer catches appear.
- When you encounter a puzzle, pause to examine nearby levers or switches, as they frequently guard collectibles.

Unusual Customers
Patrons include cute otters, axolotls, herons, and mythic beings such as Nessie and Kelpie. Every customer has a distinct personality, appetite, and favorite fish, which influences the tip they leave after being served.
Serving the correct fish can earn a generous tip, while mismatched dishes provoke opinions from the patrons, providing feedback on player choices.
- Observe each customer’s reaction to different fish to infer their preferences.
- Mythical patrons may prove especially generous when you deliver the right catch.

Gear and Boat Upgrades
Cash earned from tips can be spent on better rods, hooks, bags, scaling tools, and new boats. Upgrades improve the efficiency of catching and processing fish, allowing access to deeper, stranger waters.
Cosmetic options let players dress up the robot fishmonger and customize the boat, offering visual variety.
- Prioritize functional upgrades like scaling tools early to handle larger fish.
- Balance cosmetic purchases with gear improvements to keep the experience fresh.

Collectibles and Lore
Beneath the surface lie hidden treasures, collectible artifacts, messages in bottles, and secret passages. Finding these items adds narrative depth and rewards thorough exploration beyond the fishing loop.
Old notes and logs discovered in the depths gradually reveal why the tiny robot is fishing, stitching together a larger story about the world’s mysteries.
- Search for levers and environmental puzzles; they often guard collectibles.
- Keep a simple list of discovered notes to piece together the overarching narrative.
