About Save the Dodos
Save the Dodos tasks players with preventing the extinction of the famously clumsy bird by reshaping each level’s platforms and obstacles. Direct commands are absent; instead you alter the environment so the dodos can find a safe path on their own.
The game contains 100 levels spread across four themed worlds—Prehistorical, Ancient Egypt, Antiquity, and the Viking north. Four special dodos and four distinct game modes add variety while the experience remains single‑player and casual.
01 / THE GUIDE
Worlds
Four worlds structure the adventure: Prehistorical, Ancient Egypt, Antiquity, and the harsh north of the Vikings. Each world presents its own visual style and environmental layout, which influences where platforms and obstacles can be placed.
Moving from one world to the next introduces new visual cues and terrain types, encouraging you to adapt your reshaping strategy to the specific challenges each setting provides.
- Notice the background elements that hint at possible platform locations.
- Compare obstacle shapes between worlds to discover reusable patterns.

Game Modes
Save the Dodos includes four modes—Classic, Survival, Rescue, and Collection. Each mode uses the same level‑shaping mechanic but applies a different objective, such as simply completing the level or rescuing specific dodos.
Each mode gives the same level a distinct objective without altering the core reshaping process.
- Start with Classic mode to learn basic reshaping techniques.
- Try Survival mode for a stricter time‑based challenge.

03 / THE GUIDE
Level Shaping
The central mechanic is reshaping platforms and obstacles within each level to create a safe route for the dodos. You cannot issue direct commands; the birds move according to the terrain you design.
Because the dodos are described as unintelligent, successful reshaping relies on anticipating their simple movement patterns and ensuring the altered layout guides them toward the exit.
- Plan a clear path before making changes to reduce trial‑and‑error.
- Use the fewest adjustments possible; over‑complicating the layout can confuse the dodos.

Special Dodos
Four special dodos appear throughout the game, distinguished from the regular flock. Their presence adds variety to the game as you reshape the environment.
These special dodos still follow the indirect guidance system, so observing their paths can inform subtle adjustments to platforms that benefit the whole group.
- Watch each special dodo’s movement to spot any differences.
- Adjust platform heights if a special dodo appears to need more clearance.
