About SAND: Raiders of Sophie
SAND: Raiders of Sophie drops you into a massive, procedurally generated desert world where you pilot custom‑built walking mechs called Trampers. You scavenge ruined cities, shipwrecks and other remnants for loot, then aim to extract to an orbital station while surviving hostile players and the supernatural Upiors.
The game blends PvP and PvE, supporting solo adventurers and squads alike. Your Trampler’s design, the chosen game mode, and how you manage extraction shape each expedition’s risk and reward.
01 / THE GUIDE
Trampler Design
The Trampler Editor lets you assemble modular walking war machines from the ground up. You can combine armor, turrets, stealth components or mixed modules, and the editor limits you only to the parts it provides.
These designs can be tested in Voyage Mode before entering higher‑risk scenarios, allowing you to see how mobility, defense and firepower interact with the world’s hazards and player encounters.
- Experiment with contrasting heavy‑armor and high‑speed builds in Voyage Mode to gauge survivability versus traversal speed.
- Notice how adding turrets changes your Trampler’s silhouette, which may affect how other players target you.
02 / THE GUIDE
Game Modes
Voyage Mode offers a lower‑risk environment where you can test builds and collect lower‑tier items at your own pace. The core loop of scouting, scavenging and extracting remains the same without the added pressure of a sandstorm.
Storm Dive raises the stakes by introducing higher‑tier loot while a sandstorm slowly engulfs the region, increasing the chance of confrontations with other scavengers and the risk of losing hard‑earned loot.
- Use Voyage Mode to become familiar with map layouts before tackling Storm Dive.
- Watch the sandstorm’s advance in Storm Dive to time your extraction before the risk increases further.

Multiplayer Options
You may deploy solo or join a squad when embarking on expeditions. Solo play gives you full control over scouting routes and loot decisions, while squad play lets you coordinate routes and tackle expeditions together.
Regardless of group size, the online PvP component means other players can appear at any time, creating dynamic encounters that must be navigated before extraction.
- When in a squad, assign specific scouting or combat roles to streamline decision‑making.
- Solo players might favor builds that emphasize speed or stealth to reduce unwanted engagements.
04 / THE GUIDE
PvPvE Encounters
While exploring cities, ruins, shipwrecks and other remnants, you will encounter the supernatural Upiors and rival scavenger players. Each encounter requires you to manage combat or avoidance to protect your Trampler and loot.
The environment influences each fight; open sand leaves you exposed to both Upiors and enemy fire, while built structures can affect line‑of‑sight and movement options.
- Assess the value of nearby loot before engaging a Upior to decide if combat is worthwhile.
- Consider how open versus built‑up areas change your exposure to enemy fire.
05 / THE GUIDE
Extraction Process
After scavenging, locate the designated extract point and travel there to board the orbital station. Successful extraction secures your loot, life and Trampler, completing the expedition.
Failure to reach the point before the sandstorm or enemy interference can result in loss of resources, making route planning and timing essential for a safe exit.
- Observe the sandstorm’s speed in Storm Dive to choose an extraction window that maximizes safety.
- Plan routes that keep you within reachable distance of the extract point as the storm expands.
