About 戦国英雄譚-Samurai Heroes-
Samurai Heroes is a command‑based RPG set in Japan’s Warring States era. Players begin by selecting a protagonist from 91 daimyo families or by creating a new warlord, each choice defining initial abilities, retainers, and regional allies.
The game emphasizes freedom: recruit over 300 historic warlords, form units at your castle, hunt for randomly titled equipment, and conquer enemy castles on a map modeled after real Japan while events react to your progress.
01 / THE GUIDE
Choosing Your Protagonist
You may start as any of 91 daimyo houses or as a custom warlord. Each house determines your starting abilities, the number and skill of retainers, surrounding power dynamics, and which warlords are likely to join you in that region.
Because these factors differ between houses, each playthrough can develop a distinct narrative path, encouraging multiple attempts to explore alternative story developments.
- Select a house with fewer retainers if you want to focus on external recruitment early.
- Use the custom warlord option to set abilities that match your preferred strategy.

Recruiting Warlords and Forming Units
Over 300 historic warlords can join your service after you defeat them in battle or conquer their faction. You assemble units at your faction’s castle and may assign deputy commanders to enhance unit abilities.
Units can combine generals with skills such as spear, cavalry, archery, and strategy, allowing you to craft formations that suit the challenges presented by enemy forces.
- Target weaker warlords first to expand your roster quickly.
- Assign deputy commanders to units that rely heavily on a single combat style.

Equipment and Treasure Hunting
Battle scenes drop equipment that receives a random quality and title, creating a treasure‑hunting element for stronger gear. Certain events also provide equipment as rewards.
Defeat does not impose penalties in regular battles, allowing you to retry battles without loss of progress; some event battles may have specific consequences.
- Participate in events that explicitly award equipment for additional gear sources.
- Observe the quality and title of drops to understand the range of possible rewards.

Map Exploration and Castle Conquest
The field map mirrors an actual map of Japan, scattering enemy castles across the landscape. You may attack castles in any order, whether by weakening nearby forces first or targeting a famous warlord early.
Enemy levels increase the farther you are from your base, adding strategic considerations for route planning and the use of fast travel to your own castles.
- Use fast travel to reduce travel time between distant targets.
- Balance early attacks on nearby weak castles with occasional long‑range raids for valuable equipment.

Custom Features and Difficulty Modes
The New Warlord Creation tool lets you import images, set abilities, and choose a starting region. Difficulty options include Normal, Hard, and Lonely Mode, the latter removing subordinate support.
Additional systems such as Domestic Affairs, Blacksmith, Training, Fast Travel, and New Game+ (carrying one equipment set) provide further strategic flexibility.
- Try Lonely Mode for a challenge that relies solely on your own generals.
- Use New Game+ to retain a powerful weapon set when beginning a new campaign.
