About Samurai GUNN 2
Samurai GUNN 2 is a fast‑paced platform fighter that focuses on short, intense rounds. Players can battle locally on the couch or online in 1v1 and Free‑for‑All matches, with private lobbies available for friends. The game runs on a custom engine that provides rollback netcode for both Ranked and Casual matchmaking.
The developers spent three years rebuilding the engine to keep online matches fast and reliable. As an Early Access title, Samurai GUNN 2 promises regular updates that will add new characters, stages, and modes, extending the experience beyond its initial launch.
01 / THE GUIDE
Playable Characters
Each fighter has a distinct toolbox. Hayao is described as the fastest character, making speed a primary strength. Otomo can launch fireballs that trap opponents and, when she slashes those traps, gains a temporary speed boost.
Golem creates destructible stone blocks and statues that can obstruct or crush opponents. Pops is slower but strong, with dash‑grabs that launch enemies and explosive bullets that damage through walls. Ghost’s bullets are invisible and she can become invisible while dashing, while Slug can cling to walls, run on ceilings, and fire retrievable kunai.
- Try a speed‑focused character like Hayao to see how quick movement changes early exchanges.
- Observe how environmental tools, such as Golem’s blocks, affect opponent positioning.

Match Types
Samurai GUNN 2 supports shared/split screen PvP for local couch play and online PvP for 1v1 and Free‑for‑All battles. Both online modes include Ranked and Casual matchmaking, keeping the round length short and decisive.
Players can also create private lobbies, allowing friends to meet in a custom online space without affecting matchmaking rankings. All modes share the same core combat system.
- Use Casual matchmaking to become familiar with character interactions before entering Ranked queues.
- Set up a private lobby to practice specific combos without ranking pressure.

03 / THE GUIDE
Rollback Netcode
The custom engine implements rollback netcode, which aims to reduce the visible impact of latency during online fights. This system keeps combat fluid in both Ranked and Casual queues.
Developers noted a three‑year rebuild to ensure matches are fast and reliable, indicating that rollback is a core part of the online experience.
- Maintain a stable internet connection to let rollback operate as intended.
- Watch how attacks feel when latency spikes; rollback may adjust timing slightly.
