About Sam & Dan: Floaty Flatmates
Sam & Dan: Floaty Flatmates is a VR‑only co‑op adventure where two players, Sam and Dan, must work together across a flooded city. Trapped in separate buildings, they gather tools and supplies to construct a bridge that leads to a rescue boat while avoiding a lurking shark.
The game also offers a fast‑paced PvP mode where each side races to build their own bridge and shoot arrows at the opponent. It is free to play, with an optional cosmetic DLC that adds a party‑hat and confetti rain. The title runs on Windows and supports tracked controllers and family sharing.
01 / THE GUIDE
Co‑op Survival Mode
In the main co‑op mode, each player starts with nothing in the middle of an apocalyptic storm. The goal is to explore the flooded environment, locate weapons and tools, and assemble a bridge that reaches a boat for escape. Communication between the two flatmates is essential to coordinate searches and avoid falling into the water where a shark prowls.
Players can improve their coordination by using in‑game objects such as a tin can, which functions as a can‑phone for easier voice contact. The session typically lasts up to an hour, ending with optional easter‑egg hunting.
- Try positioning the can‑phone near high‑traffic areas to keep dialogue clear.
- Plan bridge sections together before placing each piece to reduce back‑tracking.

PvP Bridge Rush
The PvP mode pits two opponents against each other in a race to finish a bridge first. Once a bridge reaches the bow, players can fire arrows at the rival’s face. Rounds are quick, encouraging fast aim practice and rapid construction decisions.
Success relies on swiftly gathering supplies and assembling bridge components while keeping an eye on the opponent’s progress. The mode emphasizes speed over the slower, collaborative pacing of the co‑op experience.
- Prioritize gathering bridge parts early to stay ahead of the opponent.
- Use short, controlled shots to improve arrow accuracy under pressure.

Communication Tools
Effective teamwork is supported by in‑game items like a tin can that acts as a can‑phone, allowing players to talk across the street despite the flood. These tools reduce the need for external voice chat and keep communication immersive within VR.
Finding and placing the can‑phone early can streamline coordination, especially when navigating dangerous water zones where a shark may appear.
- Place the can‑phone near the start area for quick access.
- Test the can‑phone’s range before venturing far from the base.

Bridge Construction
Both modes require players to collect scattered tools and weapons to assemble a bridge that reaches a boat or the opponent’s bow. The bridge is the central objective; without it, escape or victory is impossible. Materials are found throughout the flooded streets and must be carried back to the construction site.
In PvP, the race to finish the bridge first makes efficient gathering and placement crucial. In co‑op, the shared effort allows for division of labor, reducing overall build time.
- Assign one player to gather while the other assembles to keep momentum.
- Watch for the shark in the water and try not to fall in.

Cosmetic DLC
The game is free to play, but a downloadable content pack offers purely cosmetic items. Purchasing the DLC grants a party‑hat and triggers a confetti rain effect, providing visual flair without affecting gameplay balance.
Support for the developers is optional; the DLC does not unlock new mechanics or advantages, keeping the core experience unchanged for all players.
- Buy the DLC if you enjoy visual celebrations after a win.
- Remember the DLC is optional and does not impact competitive play.
