About S-mail
S‑mail is an emotional storytelling experience where you converse with an AI‑driven character through email. Set in the year 2057, the game presents a modern sci‑fi backdrop and focuses on the protagonist’s lingering grief after losing a lover.
A single playthrough lasts 1‑2 hours and offers 50,000 words of narrative, over 40 CG illustrations, eight original music tracks, and five possible endings. Your written replies shape the AI’s attitude, behavior, and eventual growth, leading to different conclusions.
01 / THE GUIDE
Narrative Flow
The game unfolds as a series of email exchanges. Each message you receive contains the AI’s thoughts and emotions, and you respond by selecting from preset reply options. Your choices subtly alter her attitude and the content of subsequent emails.
The story is designed to be completed in about one to two hours, with five distinct endings that reflect the cumulative impact of your replies on the AI’s development.
- Observe how tone changes after each reply; small shifts can indicate a branching path.
- Take note of recurring themes in her messages to anticipate future options.

Email Interaction
Communication occurs solely via on‑screen email text; there are no voice lines or facial animations. You cannot see the AI’s expression, but the wording conveys her feelings. Selecting a reply determines how her consciousness evolves.
The AI may also send photos, music, or other media as part of her growth, but all interactions remain text‑based choices presented to the player.
- Read the full email before choosing; context often guides the most fitting response.
- Consider the emotional weight of each option, as it influences her future behavior.

Visual and Musical Assets
The full version includes over 40 CG illustrations and eight original music tracks that accompany the narrative. These assets appear at key moments, such as when the AI shares a photo or mentions generating a melody.
While the illustrations are not variant‑specific, they enhance the emotional atmosphere and provide visual context for the email exchanges.
- Pay attention to the timing of music cues; they often align with narrative shifts.
- Notice how CGs are used to highlight pivotal story beats.
