About Romestead
Romestead is an action‑adventure survival title where players rebuild a Roman settlement after the dead rise at night and the gods fall silent. You can play alone or with up to seven friends, gathering rocks, ores, and logs to construct towns, farms, and production hubs.
The world is procedurally generated yet contains handcrafted locations, dungeons, and epic bosses. By making offerings you can awaken the gods, gaining technologies, buffs, and upgrades that aid the expansion toward a restored empire.
01 / THE GUIDE
Survival and Settlement Building
Players explore the world, collect heavy resources such as rocks, ores, and logs, and carry each item back to their camp. These physical objects serve as the raw material for building structures, farms, and automated production lines.
Settlements grow when survivors are recruited and kept happy. As the camp expands it becomes a hub for crafting, allowing players to gradually transform a simple outpost into a functional Roman town.
- Gather a mix of resource types early to keep construction options flexible.
- Monitor survivor happiness to avoid stalls in settlement expansion.

Multiplayer Scaling and Server Options
Romestead supports solo play and cooperative sessions for up to eight players. Difficulty scales with the number of participants, ensuring challenges remain appropriate whether you play alone or with a full party.
Players may host their own server or connect peer‑to‑peer, giving flexibility in how groups organize sessions and manage connections.
- Start with a small group to gauge how difficulty changes before adding more players.
- Host your own server when playing with the maximum number of participants.

Transporting Heavy Resources
Heavy resources exist as physical objects that must be moved manually, but players can construct a cart train to haul multiple items at once, reducing the number of trips needed.
When enemies approach, the environment can be used defensively; for example, a boulder can be thrown at an approaching foe.
- Build a cart train early to speed up resource delivery to your settlement.
- Keep a boulder or similar obstacle nearby for quick defensive actions.

Awakening Gods and Unlocking Technologies
Making offerings and sacrifices can awaken the Roman gods, restoring their connection to the world. Their favor unlocks technologies, buffs, and upgrades that assist in rebuilding Rome.
These divine benefits complement settlement growth, providing strategic advantages that can be leveraged when expanding to new biomes or establishing trade routes.
- Test different offerings in separate settlements to see which divine buffs align with your strategy.
- Record which technologies become available after each awakening to plan future upgrades.

Exploration, Dungeons, and Bosses
The procedurally generated world contains handcrafted places, unique dungeons, and epic bosses. Dungeons feature enemies and puzzles that reward gear, trinkets, and new citizens.
Defeating bosses and clearing dungeons yields powerful items and advances the quest to restore the empire, encouraging players to explore further biomes.
- Mark dungeon entrances on your map before entering to avoid getting lost.
- Equip adequate gear before tackling an epic boss for a smoother encounter.
