About Roguebook

Roguebook places you inside a magical Book of Lore where each page is a hex‑tiled battlefield generated anew. You command two heroes, each with a personal relic, a skill tree, and a pool of over 50 cards, building a deck as you explore.

The game mixes roguelike deck‑building with strategic positioning, offering more than 200 cards, 80 relics and 30 gems. An average of 20 hours is needed to defeat the final boss, and 20 difficulty levels expand the challenge further.

01 / THE GUIDE

Hero Pairs

At the start of every run you select two heroes from six available pairs. Each hero contributes a unique card collection, a personal relic, and a skill tree that can be unlocked during play.

The hero placed in front protects the hero behind, and swapping their positions lets you combine abilities for stronger combos, making placement a tactical decision each turn.

  • Swap front and back heroes early to test how their relics interact.
  • Match relic types that complement each hero’s dominant card style.

02 / THE GUIDE

Dynamic Deckbuilding

Your deck evolves throughout a run as you acquire cards from encounters, merchants, and quests. Over 200 cards are available, guaranteeing that no two decks are identical.

Cards can be upgraded with 30 special gems, and relics provide additional effects, allowing you to shape power as the map unfolds.

  • Prioritise gem pickups that enhance cards you use most often.
  • Balance acquiring new cards with relics to keep both offense and defense viable.

03 / THE GUIDE

Procedurally Generated World

Each time you open the Roguebook the map and its encounters are procedurally generated on hexagonal tiles, ensuring a fresh layout for every run.

Magic inks reveal different patterns on the tiles, and encounters such as merchants, travelers, ruins, and quests can grant cards, relics, or present traps.

  • Use inks on every tile to uncover hidden merchants that often hold valuable relics.
  • Note recurring encounter types to anticipate resource opportunities.

04 / THE GUIDE

Strategic Boss Battles

More than 40 bosses and enemies test your deck and positioning. Anticipating enemy actions and queuing your own moves are essential to survive these encounters.

The front hero’s protective role becomes crucial against powerful foes, while skill‑tree upgrades can shift the balance in tight battles.

  • Observe boss patterns before committing high‑cost cards to minimise damage.
  • Invest skill points in defensive abilities for the front hero when facing heavy‑hit bosses.

05 / THE GUIDE

Progression and Difficulty

An average of 20 hours is required to beat the game, and the system offers 20 difficulty levels. Defeating the final boss unlocks an Epilogue level that adds new relics, gems, and encounters.

Pages collected during runs can be spent on upgrades, and heroes level up to unlock fresh cards, encouraging long‑term growth beyond the initial victory.

  • Collect pages early; they serve as currency for later upgrades.
  • Gradually raise the difficulty after mastering lower tiers to keep challenges fresh.
