About RIFT

RIFT is a free‑to‑play massively multiplayer online adventure set in the fantasy world of Telara. Players become Ascended heroes who defend the realm against invasions from the elemental Planes, and battles can start anywhere at any time.

The game offers a deep character creation system with two factions, three races per faction, and dozens of Souls that contain hundreds of traits and abilities. Cosmetic armor is saved across characters, allowing players to display any look they acquire.

01 / THE GUIDE

Character Creation

At the start, players choose one of two factions, each providing three distinct races. This choice determines the visual and cultural background of the new Ascended.

After the initial selection, players can pick a Soul from a large pool, then assign traits and abilities from that Soul. The system allows re‑specialization at any time, letting players adjust their build without creating a new character.

  • Try each race to see which visual style you prefer before committing to a playthrough.
  • Use the re‑specialize option when you want to experiment with a different set of traits.

02 / THE GUIDE

Cosmetic Gear

Every armor or costume piece obtained is stored for use on any of a player's characters. This means a player can equip a favorite look regardless of the character’s current stats.

Cosmetic gear does not affect gameplay statistics, allowing players to prioritize appearance without compromising performance in combat or other activities.

  • Collect a variety of armor sets to mix and match for different visual themes.
  • Save rare costumes in your inventory for future characters you may create.

03 / THE GUIDE

Dynamic World Events

Telara is described as a living, dynamic world where chaos can erupt at any moment. Planar invasions and battles against ancient titans can appear spontaneously across the map.

These events are open to all players, and participation contributes to the ongoing story of the world, making the next adventure always near.

  • Check the world map regularly for markers indicating active invasions.
  • Join nearby players during an event to increase the chance of a quick victory.

04 / THE GUIDE

Group Content

The game includes dozens of dungeons and raids designed for groups of 2, 5, 10, and 20 players. These instances are located in the darker regions of Telara and require cooperation to complete.

Players can gather friends or match with others to form parties of the specified sizes, then enter the chosen dungeon or raid together.

  • Form a party with the exact number of players recommended for the content you plan to run.
  • Communicate roles before entering a raid to ensure each member knows their responsibilities.

  • Use Steam’s family sharing to let multiple accounts access the game on the same PC.
  • Visit the in‑app store only for cosmetic items if you prefer to keep the experience free.
