About Rift Riff

Rift Riff is a tower‑defense title where players jump through rifts, fend off monster waves, and loot the conquered worlds. The core loop mixes strategic tower selection and placement with on‑the‑fly upgrades, while a forgiving resource system lets you schedule builds and recover from mistakes.

The game offers roughly 15–20 hours of solo play across 20 worlds, each containing multiple scenarios. It includes 17 tower types, 25 monster varieties, companions, challenges, and full Steam features such as achievements, cloud saves, and controller support.

01 / THE GUIDE

Strategic Tower Choice

At the start of each scenario you pick a handful of towers to bring, then place them on preset map spots. Choosing towers that counter specific monster behaviors is key to surviving waves. During waves you earn juice, the build resource, which lets you construct or upgrade towers before and during attacks, adding a layer of tactical timing.

  • Consider monster patterns when selecting your initial tower set.
  • Balance early juice generation with later upgrade potential.

02 / THE GUIDE

Forgiving Resource System

If you lack juice for a tower, you can schedule its construction for later. Building the wrong tower grants a full refund, and lost towers respawn free after the wave. Even the Extractor can be recovered by redoing the last wave. When struggling, you can pick flowers for extra juice, providing a safety net for difficult moments.

  • Use the refund mechanic to experiment without penalty.
  • Collect flowers early if you anticipate juice shortages.

Progression and Rewards

Surviving monster onslaughts awards prisms, which unlock additional rifts, towers, companions, and tower upgrades. This creates a loop where each successful wave expands your options for future scenarios. The game also features 45 challenges for dedicated players, offering extra goals beyond the main storyline.

  • Focus on early prism accumulation to broaden tower choices.
  • Attempt challenges after completing main worlds for added variety.

04 / THE GUIDE

Companion Assistance

Six companions are available to aid you and your towers during battles. Their presence adds another strategic element, as they can influence tower performance or monster handling. Companions are unlocked through prism rewards, tying their availability to your overall progression.

  • Experiment with different companions to see which best fits your tower setup.
  • Unlock companions early to increase tactical flexibility.

Platform and Accessibility Features

Rift Riff runs on Windows, macOS, and Linux, supporting single‑player mode with full controller, keyboard‑only, and mouse‑only options. Adjustable text size, color alternatives, and custom volume controls enhance accessibility. Steam integration provides achievements, stats, cloud saves, and family sharing.

  • Try the adjustable text size if you find UI elements hard to read.
  • Use cloud saves to keep progress when switching between devices.
