About Red Planet Farming
Red Planet Farming puts you in charge of Martian agriculture as the first Agricultural Director. Your task is to grow enough food for scientists, researchers, and volunteers scattered across the planet. You’ll select from a variety of futuristic crops and protect them with technology against harsh Martian hazards.
As settlements expand you unlock new outposts at Valles Marineris, Utopia Planitia, and Medusae Fossae. Each region adds fresh crops, buildings, and challenges, letting you design farms the way you like while watching the red landscape evolve.

Outpost Locations
Four distinct Martian locations become available: the starting outpost and three additional regions—Valles Marineris, Utopia Planitia, and Medusae Fossae. Each location introduces new crops and technology.
Expanding to new regions is tied to population growth, giving you fresh challenges and opportunities to diversify your agricultural strategy across the planet.
- Visit each new region early to assess its unique crop options.
- Compare environmental hazards between locations before allocating resources.

Environmental Hazards
Mars presents dust storms, radiation, meteor showers, and other hazards that can affect crop health. Protective technology is required to keep farms productive under these conditions.
Understanding each hazard’s impact helps you choose appropriate defenses and plan planting cycles, ensuring a steady food supply despite the planet’s unforgiving climate.
- Schedule planting around known dust‑storm periods when possible.
