About Quake

Quake (Enhanced) updates the original dark‑fantasy first‑person shooter with resolutions up to 4K, widescreen support, dynamic lighting, anti‑aliasing and depth of field. The package includes the classic campaign, all original and MachineGames expansion packs, and multiple multiplayer options, including cross‑platform play and split‑screen co‑op.

01 / THE GUIDE

Dark Fantasy Campaign

The single‑player story follows Ranger, a warrior equipped with a varied arsenal, as he battles corrupted knights, deformed ogres, and twisted creatures across four distinct dimensions: infested military bases, ancient medieval castles, lava‑filled dungeons, and gothic cathedrals.

Progression requires locating the four magic runes, after which Ranger can confront the ancient evil threatening humanity. Players may experience the campaign in the original visual mode or the enhanced mode with upgraded graphics.

  • Observe each environment’s layout to locate the runes efficiently.
  • Note enemy types to select the most suitable weapon for each encounter.

02 / THE GUIDE

Expansion Packs

Quake ships with the original expansions “The Scourge of Armagon” and “Dissolution of Eternity,” plus three MachineGames additions: “Dimension of the Past,” “Dimension of the Machine,” and the new “Dawn of the Machine.”

The “Dawn of the Machine” expansion places Ranger in an endless illusion, forcing him to battle hordes twisted by eternity while searching for the Nightmare Machine that can break the loop.

  • Play the expansions after completing the base campaign to maintain narrative continuity.
  • Use the enhanced visual settings to appreciate the newer expansion’s lighting effects.

  • Set up a dedicated server for stable online matches.
  • Coordinate weapon load‑outs with teammates in co‑op to cover each other's strengths.

Crossplay & Platform Support

Quake enables crossplay across PC (controller‑enabled), Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, PS5, and Nintendo Switch, letting players join the same campaign or multiplayer session regardless of hardware.

The title runs on Windows and includes Steam Cloud, Remote Play Together, and Family Sharing. macOS and Linux are not supported.

  • Enable Steam Cloud to keep progress synced across devices.
  • Verify controller settings on each platform before starting a session.
