01 / THE GUIDE
Deck Building
Players assemble decks from over 200 relics and more than 100 cards, swapping them on the fly between enemy encounters. This flexibility lets you tailor your deck to the hero you are playing, influencing how you approach each combat scenario.
Deck upgrades are unlocked through progression, allowing you to experiment with different combinations of items, talismans and spells. The system encourages strategic decision‑making, as each run requires thoughtful selection of cards to match upcoming biome challenges.
- Try focusing on a few synergistic relics before expanding your deck for clearer strategic direction.
- Observe which cards perform well in specific biomes and adjust your load‑out accordingly.

Biome Exploration
The game features distinct biomes—dark caverns, corrupted swamps and menacing mountains—each populated by unique creatures and terrain modifiers. These environments shape the enemies you face and the tactics you must employ.
Terrain modifiers in each biome affect combat, prompting players to adapt their deck and item usage. Understanding the specific challenges of a biome can guide which relics or spells to prioritize before entering.
- Before entering a new biome, learn the types of enemies you encounter there to anticipate needed defenses.
- Consider equipping terrain‑specific relics to mitigate biome modifiers.

Village Management
Between expeditions, you return to a village where you can restore buildings. Restoring structures unlocks upgrades for items and spells, providing long‑term progression outside of combat.
Village upgrades influence future runs by enhancing the power of items and spells you acquire. This loop creates a sense of growth that carries over to each new dungeon crawl.
- Prioritize rebuilding buildings that grant item upgrades early for stronger subsequent runs.
- Balance village restoration with deck refinement to keep both aspects progressing.

Character Variety
Pyrene offers a cast of villagers, each with distinct abilities, mechanics and magic. Selecting a character determines which deck strategies are most effective for that run.
Unique character skills interact with relics and cards, encouraging players to experiment with different heroes to discover varied gameplay styles.
- Play multiple characters to see how their abilities complement different relic combinations.
- Match a character’s core mechanic with a focused deck theme for smoother synergy.

Replayability
With a large pool of objects, biomes, relics, talismans and spells, no two runs are identical. The game’s design encourages continual experimentation and strategy refinement.
Endless modes and story progression provide multiple ways to approach the game, ensuring that players can develop new tactics and discover fresh combinations over time.
- Treat each run as a test of a specific deck archetype to gauge its strengths and weaknesses.
- Explore different biomes in separate runs to fully experience the variety of creature encounters.
