About PULSAR: Lost Colony
PULSAR: Lost Colony is a cooperative space‑simulation where up to five players crew a starship, each filling a distinct station—Captain, Pilot, Scientist, Weapons Specialist, or Engineer. The game’s randomized galaxy presents missions, abandoned stations, and hostile worlds that demand coordinated ship‑wide actions such as power routing, turret control, and warp‑drive management.
Beyond ship combat, players can teleport to planets or enemy vessels, loot valuable components, and board hostile ships. The experience supports online co‑op, offline play with AI crew, and VR with motion‑controller input, while offering full controller compatibility across Windows, macOS, and Linux.
01 / THE GUIDE
Captain
The Captain directs the voyage, deciding routes through the galaxy and making hard choices that affect the crew’s success. Clear communication and resolve are essential, as the Captain links all stations and coordinates actions.
Leadership decisions include selecting destinations, managing encounters, and guiding the crew during combat or exploration. The Captain’s choices often determine whether the crew survives the perils of space.
- Discuss route options before engaging warp to ensure all stations are prepared.
- Use concise commands during combat to keep the crew focused on their tasks.
02 / THE GUIDE
Pilot
Pilots steer the ship, navigating sectors and maneuvering through debris. They control flight inputs to position the vessel effectively during combat and align it for warp jumps.
A skilled Pilot treats the ship as an extension of themselves, adapting flight styles to the situation and ensuring smooth transitions between sectors.
- Practice aligning the ship before entering combat to reduce reaction time.
- Watch for debris fields and adjust thrust early to avoid collisions.

03 / THE GUIDE
Scientist
Scientists provide medical aid and environmental data, overseeing sensor sweeps and breaching enemy firewalls. Their technological expertise supports research and strategic planning during exploration.
On alien planets, the Scientist’s knowledge helps assess hazards and gather information that can shape the crew’s approach to hostile environments.
- Run sensor sweeps before boarding to reveal hidden threats.
- Use the Scientist’s research abilities to prioritize valuable loot.
04 / THE GUIDE
Weapons Specialist
The Weapons Specialist operates guns, turrets, missiles, and other combat tech. Their aim directly influences ship‑to‑ship battles and boarding actions, making them pivotal in combat outcomes.
Beyond ship combat, the Specialist assists during investigations of hostile environments, using firepower to clear obstacles or defend the away team.
- Prioritize turret control when the ship is under fire to maximize damage output.
- Coordinate with the Engineer to ensure power is allocated to weapons during intense fights.
05 / THE GUIDE
Engineer
Engineers maintain ship systems, charge the warp drive, and balance power flow to avoid overheating. They keep the reactor operating at peak efficiency and handle repairs during crises.
Power allocation decisions made by the Engineer affect all stations, influencing combat readiness, navigation, and overall ship performance.
- Monitor reactor output and adjust power distribution before entering combat.
- Repair damaged systems promptly to prevent cascading failures.
