About Puffin Planes
Puffin Planes lets you design an airline on a custom globe, flying routes such as Tokyo‑to‑Los Angeles or even on a terraformed Mars while the game’s original soundtrack plays. You decide between hub‑and‑spoke or point‑to‑point layouts, building lounges, hubs and other facilities as airports evolve.
The title supports both solo and online play. Invite friends through Steam to cooperate on a shared network or compete for market share, using advertising, hotel construction, concourse theft and hostile takeovers to gain the upper hand.
01 / THE GUIDE
Airline Network Building
At the start, airports appear with random bonuses. You choose where to place hubs, lounges or other structures, shaping routes that can be short hops or long multi‑city cycles. The globe’s flexibility lets you centralise traffic or spread it across many points.
Each placement influences income and reach, so early bonus locations often guide hub decisions. Over time, adding lounges or expanding hubs can optimise the network for the strategy you prefer.
- Map early airport bonuses before committing to a hub.
- Compare a short hub‑and‑spoke line against a longer point‑to‑point chain.

Competitive Actions
You can advertise, build hotels or steal concourses at rival airports to improve your position. These actions directly affect cash flow and market presence, giving you leverage over competing airlines.
When you have sufficient resources, you may purchase competitors outright in a hostile takeover, or kick them out of your hub airports to consolidate control of key locations.
- Balance advertising spend with infrastructure upgrades.
- Consider a takeover only after establishing a stable income stream.

Aircraft Characters
The game offers selectable flyers such as Flamingo, Eagle, Crow, Gull and Ostrich, each granting a specific bonus. Flamingo adds extra lounge income, while Eagle extends plane range, affecting how you expand your routes.
Choosing a character aligns with your strategic focus. A lounge‑income bonus supports hub‑centric growth, whereas a range boost favours long point‑to‑point routes.
- Pick Flamingo if lounge revenue is central to your plan.
- Select Eagle when you need to reach distant airports.

Multiplayer Co‑op
Friends can be invited or joined through Steam, allowing you to build a shared airline network. Cooperation can involve joint hub development, coordinated advertising or shared route planning.
The same world also supports competitive interactions, so you may cooperate with some players while contesting others for market dominance.
- Coordinate hub locations with friends for mutual traffic boosts.
- Use joint advertising campaigns to increase overall passenger numbers.
