About Puddle Knights
Puddle Knights is a single‑player puzzle game where you direct knights and their superiors through muddy obstacles. The goal is to escort each character to its exit while managing torn capes, stepped‑on heads, and drawbridge controls.
The game offers over a hundred increasingly challenging levels, encourages experimentation with Undo and Reset, and provides a relaxed pace with no time pressure. It runs on Windows and macOS and supports full controller input, Steam Cloud saves, and remote play on multiple devices.
01 / THE GUIDE
Gameplay Mechanics
Players control knights of varying cape lengths and their less mud‑resistant superiors. Movement is used to clear mud formations, step on heads, tear capes, and hold down drawbridges, creating tactical solutions for each puzzle. The core loop revolves around positioning both groups to reach designated exits, with no additional items such as keys or boxes required.
- Observe how cape length affects a knight’s ability to reach distant tiles.
- Experiment with stepping on heads to open new paths.

Level Design
Each of the 100+ levels presents a unique mud layout that demands logical placement of characters. The puzzles increase in difficulty, introducing new configurations that test spatial reasoning and timing. There are no pressure plates, keys, or pushable boxes; the challenge stems solely from the arrangement of mud and the characters’ interactions with it.
- Start each level by scanning the entire board for obvious exit routes.
- Look for spots where a torn cape could create a shortcut.

Undo and Reset Functions
Mistakes are expected and easily corrected using the built‑in Undo and Reset options. Undo lets you step back through your moves, while Reset returns the level to its initial state. These tools encourage experimentation without penalty, allowing players to test unconventional tactics safely.
- Use Undo frequently to explore alternative moves.
- Reset when a puzzle becomes too tangled to untangle efficiently.

Difficulty Progression
The game’s difficulty ramps up gradually, introducing more complex mud formations and tighter exit constraints. Early stages serve as tutorials for basic mechanics, while later stages require multi‑step strategies. The lack of time limits means players can take as long as needed to devise solutions, reinforcing thoughtful problem solving.
- Treat early levels as practice for later, more intricate puzzles.
- Take notes on recurring mud patterns that appear in higher levels.
