About PropHunter

PropHunter pits two teams against each other in an online hide‑and‑seek battle. One side disguises itself as everyday objects, while the other hunts for those impostors. The game rewards clever camouflage and sharp detection, with each round ending when time runs out or one side is eliminated.

Players join either the prop team or the hunter team on public or private servers. Unique ability cards appear throughout each map, letting both sides gain temporary powers such as invisibility or health boosts. The mix of deception and combat creates a fast‑paced, multiplayer‑focused experience on Windows.

01 / THE GUIDE

Team Roles and Win Conditions

Props assume the appearance and properties of selected objects, trying to blend in while avoiding detection. Hunters search the environment for impostors, aiming to capture every prop before the timer expires.

If a hunter catches a prop, that player switches to the hunter side. Conversely, a prop can eliminate a hunter with enough force, causing the hunter to join the prop team. When the round timer ends, any remaining props cause an automatic hunter loss.

  • Observe object movement patterns; props often mimic subtle motions.
  • When playing as a prop, choose objects that naturally attract attention to mask your actions.

02 / THE GUIDE

Ability Cards

Each map contains randomly placed cards that grant temporary abilities to the holder. Abilities include invisibility, health regeneration, speed boosts, and bomb throws.

A player can only use an ability after picking up its corresponding card. The cards appear everywhere on the level, ensuring that both teams have opportunities to gain an edge during play.

  • Prioritize card locations that are on common travel routes.
  • Time each ability's activation wisely to make the most of the card you pick up.

Server Types

PropHunter supports open servers where anyone can join, as well as private servers that can be invited to by friends. Both server types host the same core gameplay mechanics.

Private servers allow groups to coordinate matches without random players, while open servers provide a larger pool of opponents and allies. The choice depends on whether you prefer a controlled environment or a broader community experience.

  • Use private servers for practice sessions with a consistent group.
  • Try open servers to encounter varied strategies and prop disguises.

04 / THE GUIDE

Multiplayer Modes

The game offers both PvP and co‑op experiences. Teams can cooperate within their side to locate or hide props, while still competing against the opposite team.

Both online PvP and online co‑op are listed as features, meaning players can join matches that emphasize either competitive hunting or collaborative hiding, depending on the server setup.

  • Coordinate with teammates to cover multiple areas of the map.
  • Communicate prop locations quickly to prevent hunters from focusing on a single spot.

05 / THE GUIDE

Platform and Accessibility

PropHunter is currently available on Windows platforms only. No macOS or Linux support is listed, so Windows users have full access to all game features.

The game includes Steam achievements, trading cards, and family sharing, allowing players to earn milestones and share the title with household members without needing separate purchases.

  • Enable Steam Family Sharing to let multiple accounts play on the same machine.
  • Track achievements to gauge progress across different matches.
