About Project MIKHAIL: A Muv-Luv War Story
Project MIKHAIL: A Muv‑Luv War Story places players on a devastated Earth where humanity fights the alien BETA using giant Tactical Surface Fighters (TSFs). The narrative follows Shirogane Takeru, the hero of Muv‑Luv Alternative, and asks players to make choices that reshape the world’s fate.
Two distinct modes are available: Story Mode, where players craft their own TSF and influence the plot through decisions, and Survival Mode, an action‑strategy hybrid set in “Potentialities” that pits players against BETA while juggling the agendas of five factions. Each mode offers its own endings, equipment, and progression.
01 / THE GUIDE
Story Mode
In Story Mode you assume the role of Shirogane Takeru. The game presents a branching narrative; each decision you make alters the eventual conclusion. Alongside the story, you assemble a personal TSF by collecting parts dropped by defeated BETA.
The mode blends action with RPG‑style choice making, allowing you to shape both plot outcome and the design of your ultimate fighting machine. No other gameplay systems are described beyond these narrative and construction elements.
- Experiment with different part combinations to see how they affect TSF appearance.
- Take note of decision points; revisiting them in a new playthrough can reveal alternate endings.

Survival Mode
Survival Mode occurs in worlds called “Potentialities”. Players alternate missions from five ideologically distinct factions, each with its own agenda, while battling advancing BETA forces across Japan.
The mode features special missions that reward V‑Cash for first‑time and fast clears, and it offers eight separate endings based on faction power balance, mission success, and BETA invasion status.
- Focus on completing missions for multiple factions to influence the ending balance.
- Aim for fast clears in special missions to maximize V‑Cash earnings.

TSF Customization
Both modes let you build Tactical Surface Fighters from parts obtained by defeating BETA. In Survival Mode, exclusive TSFs such as Takemikazuchi, Black Widow II, and Grey Ghost become available.
After any ending, your accumulated skills, weapon proficiencies, and equipment persist, allowing continued refinement of your TSF in subsequent playthroughs.
- The exclusive TSFs are only available in Survival Mode, so pursue content there if you want them.
- Carry over equipment after endings to experiment with higher‑difficulty Potentialities.

Endings & Difficulty Scaling
Each mode provides multiple endings: Story Mode’s conclusion varies with player choices, while Survival Mode offers eight endings determined by faction balance, mission success, and BETA status.
Post‑ending, players can set the difficulty of the next Potentiality; higher difficulties improve item drops and enable construction of more powerful TSFs.
- Note the choices and outcomes that led to each ending to understand what influenced the result.
- Increase difficulty gradually to gauge how item drops improve.
