About Potion Permit

In *Potion Permit* you play a chemist dispatched to Moonbury to cure the mayor’s ailing daughter and win over a skeptical town. Roughly thirty unique inhabitants will occasionally fall ill, and you must diagnose their symptoms, gather ingredients, brew remedies, and treat them in an open-ended simulation RPG. Beyond healing, you can upgrade your tools, battle wandering monsters, improve the town’s facilities, and explore the countryside at a relaxed pace alongside your loyal dog companion.

01 / THE GUIDE

Diagnosis & Crafting

When a resident calls for help, you examine symptoms such as a low heart rate or burning lungs and decide which potion, ointment, or salve is needed. After diagnosis you collect ingredients from the surrounding environment with your hammer, axe, or sickle, then mix them in your cauldron to brew medicines, vitamins, and other concoctions. Higher-level recipes become available as you gain experience, requiring more ingredients but granting stronger effects. The cauldron can be enhanced to combine more ingredients into these advanced remedies.

  • Keep a variety of basic ingredients on hand to respond quickly to common ailments.
  • Enhance the cauldron over time to handle more complex recipes.

02 / THE GUIDE

Tool Upgrades & Combat

Your hammer, axe, and sickle can be upgraded for new swings and attacks, helping you harvest resources and defend against monsters. Combat happens in real time, and as a chemist you can brew concoctions to buff yourself or inflict status ailments on adversaries, plus use various tools to aid you. Turning tools into weapons lets you collect materials from monsters when simple harvesting isn’t enough. Weather changes such as rain, freezing blizzards, or baking desert heat also affect your outings, so be prepared for environmental challenges while gathering.

  • Upgrade tools before tackling tougher monsters for smoother material collection.
  • Watch the forecast and prepare before heading into harsh conditions.

Relationships & Town Development

Treating residents improves your reputation, encouraging them to open up to you and unlocking deeper connections, including potential romances with certain bachelors or bachelorettes. Higher approval ratings let you improve public buildings and expand the explorable areas around Moonbury. You can also craft and buy furniture to give your home a personal touch. Building relationships therefore directly influences how much you can improve the town’s infrastructure and how far you can venture beyond it.

  • Prioritize treating a variety of residents to raise overall approval faster.
  • Invest in town upgrades after reaching a solid reputation to access new areas.

04 / THE GUIDE

Exploration & Daily Life

Between treatments you can freely roam Moonbury and its surroundings, visiting the tavern, fishing for dinner, or simply admiring the changing lighting from bright morning sun to evening street lamps. There are no time limits for game objectives, allowing you to set your own pace and enjoy the countryside’s relaxed atmosphere. The day-night cycle provides visual variety, while the absence of strict deadlines lets you linger wherever you wish.

  • Use downtime to gather extra ingredients for future recipes.
  • Explore at different times of day to experience the town’s visual changes.

05 / THE GUIDE

Companion Dog

Your loyal dog travels with you throughout Moonbury, assisting by locating hidden items and pointing you toward residents as they move around town. This companion adds a helpful layer to both exploration and resource gathering, ensuring you rarely miss a clue or ingredient. The dog’s guidance is especially useful when navigating the wilderness or tracking down a specific patient.

  • Follow the dog’s cues to discover hidden resources you might otherwise overlook.
  • Let the dog lead you to residents when you need to find a patient quickly.
