About Polaris Sector
Polaris Sector is a 4X sci‑fi strategy title where you lead an interstellar empire, handling diplomacy, research, ship design and conquest. The galaxy is a hazardous wilderness of gas, stars and supernovas, demanding careful balance between strength and subtlety.
Battles can be fought manually in tactical mode or left to auto‑resolve, letting you focus on empire‑wide decisions. Randomly generated maps host up to 900 stars, and you can customise external threats, pirates and the number of races to suit your play style.
01 / THE GUIDE
Random Galaxy Generation
Each game creates a unique galaxy that can contain as many as 900 stars, providing a fresh strategic landscape every playthrough. The random nature influences resource locations, planetary systems and potential expansion routes.
Because the map is generated anew, players must scout to discover mines, habitable worlds and rival empires, shaping their early expansion and diplomatic opportunities.
- Scout multiple systems early to map resource distribution.
- Compare expansion routes before committing colonies.
02 / THE GUIDE
Full Ship Design Control
Players have complete freedom to alter ship roles, such as converting a corvette into a drone carrier or a freighter into a scout. Design choices are limited only by player imagination.
Balancing classic designs with experimental prototypes can make your fleet feared, while strategic use of engineers and scientists provides flexibility.
- Experiment with unconventional hull conversions.
- Test prototype designs in low‑risk skirmishes.

Fundamental vs Applied Research
Technology unlocks depend on investments in two research tracks: fundamental and applied. Prioritising one over the other shapes the timing and nature of available equipment.
Finding the right balance lets you stay ahead of rivals, securing breakthroughs that can influence battles decades later.
- Allocate some budget to both tracks early.
- Monitor opponent tech levels to adjust focus.

Diplomacy and Espionage
Dialogue with other factions lets you gain favor, trade goods and forge military agreements against common foes. Relations are fragile; newcomers may trigger wars.
A unique espionage mechanic allows you to plant false intelligence, luring enemy spies into traps and shaping diplomatic outcomes.
- Use trade offers to improve standing before conflict.
- Deploy false intel to distract aggressive rivals.
05 / THE GUIDE
Tactical vs Auto‑Resolve Battles
When combat begins you can join the battlefield in tactical mode, manually maneuvering ships for precise control. Alternatively, auto‑resolve handles the fight while you attend to empire matters.
Choosing between modes depends on urgency and how much you wish to influence the outcome directly.
- Use tactical mode for critical fleet engagements.
- Reserve auto‑resolve for routine skirmishes.
