About Plantera

Plantera is a casual indie simulation where you design a personal garden. You place plants, bushes, trees and animals, watching them grow as you expand the space. New flora and fauna become available as you increase your level, letting the garden evolve over time.

Round blue helpers appear when the garden grows, automatically harvesting items and gathering gold even while you are away. Occasionally hostile critters may invade, which you can chase away yourself or deter with a guard dog. The game supports mouse‑only play, saves at any moment, and integrates Steam Cloud and Family Sharing.

01 / THE GUIDE

Garden Building

You begin by placing a variety of plants, bushes, trees and animals in the garden. Each addition occupies space and begins a growth cycle that can be observed as time passes.

Expanding the garden unlocks further types of flora and fauna, giving you more options to diversify the layout. You can keep investing in new plants as they become available, giving you more ways to shape the garden over time.

  • Arrange new items in a way that leaves room for future expansions.
  • Note which placements make harvesting easier for helpers.

02 / THE GUIDE

Helpers

Round blue helpers appear as the garden expands. They automatically pick up dropped items and harvest plants without further input from you.

These helpers keep working while you are not actively playing, and gold accumulates during that period, ensuring resources are waiting on your return.

  • Observe how much gold is collected after a short break to gauge helper efficiency.
  • Compare manual harvesting versus helper collection for similar plant types.

03 / THE GUIDE

Guard Dog

Mean critters may occasionally invade the garden, threatening plants and harvested items. You can manually chase them away, which requires active participation.

Investing in a guard dog provides a passive defense, reducing the need for you to intervene when hostile critters appear.

  • Consider the guard dog if you prefer focusing on garden expansion rather than critter removal.
  • Watch the frequency of invasions early to decide whether the dog is worthwhile.

04 / THE GUIDE

Level Progression

Increasing your level unlocks additional plants, bushes, trees and animals. Each new unlock expands the pool of items you can place in the garden.

Progression is directly tied to expanding and managing the garden, encouraging continual growth and diversification of your space.

  • Track which unlocked items complement your existing layout before placing them.
  • Prioritize unlocking species that generate the most gold for faster progression.

05 / THE GUIDE

Save & Cloud Features

The game allows you to save at any time, preserving the exact state of your garden. This enables you to experiment without permanent consequences.

The game supports Steam Cloud and Family Sharing.

  • Save before making large layout changes to retain a fallback point.
  • Verify Cloud sync after switching computers to ensure progress is consistent.
