About PlanetSide 2
PlanetSide 2 is a free‑to‑play, massively multiplayer online first‑person shooter where three empires fight a continuous war across a single planet. Battles involve infantry, vehicles and aircraft and can include hundreds of players at once.
The game offers four continent‑scale maps, a class‑based progression system and player‑run outfits that coordinate empire‑wide strategies to capture and hold resource‑rich territories.

Three Warring Empires
Players choose one of three empires: the Terran Republic, the New Conglomerate, or the Vanu Sovereignty. Each empire provides its own weapons, attachments, vehicles and abilities, which are only available to members of that empire.
Because empire‑specific gear is locked to the chosen side, squads must plan their load‑outs and tactics around what their empire can field, influencing how they approach assaults and defenses.

Class‑Based Combat
Six distinct classes—Heavy Assault, Light Assault, Combat Medic, Infiltrator, Engineer and MAX—define a soldier’s role on the battlefield. Each class has its own set of weapons, equipment and abilities.
Progression through the skill tree unlocks hundreds of weapons, attachments, gear and vehicles, allowing players to tailor their chosen class to personal preferences and squad requirements.

Enormous Maps and Territories
PlanetSide 2 features four continent maps, each composed of dozens of square kilometers of seamless terrain. Every area is hand‑crafted and contestable, ranging from open fields to fortified bases.
Territories on these maps contain resources; controlling them grants ongoing benefits to the occupying empire, making map knowledge essential for effective offense and defense.

Outfit Teamwork

Captured territories remain under an empire’s control until contested again. Holding these zones provides ongoing resources that affect future battles and empire strength.
