About Planetbase
Planetbase puts you in charge of a fledgling space settlement, directing colonists to construct the structures they need to survive on a remote world. You must keep oxygen, food, water and power flowing while expanding the outpost toward self‑sufficiency.
Four planets present distinct hazards such as meteors, sandstorms and solar flares. The game challenges you to build a resilient base using solar or wind energy, hydroponic farms, mining operations and autonomous bots, all while managing a growing workforce.
01 / THE GUIDE
Planets and Difficulty
The game offers four planets, each with its own environmental conditions and a step‑up in difficulty. Selecting a planet determines the challenges you will face, such as harsher weather or limited resource nodes, and influences which energy sources are viable.
As you progress to harder planets, you must adapt base layout, prioritize essential structures and plan for more frequent disasters. The increasing difficulty forces tighter resource chains and careful placement of shelters to survive meteors, sandstorms or solar flares.
- Compare early‑planet resource abundance before committing to a harder world.
- Observe how weather patterns differ to plan shelter placement.

Energy Management
Power is supplied by solar panels and, where available, wind turbines. These structures convert natural sources into electricity that runs all other base facilities, including life‑support, farms and manufacturing modules.
Balancing generation with consumption is crucial; insufficient power can halt oxygen generators or water extractors, while excess capacity may sit idle without storage. Placement and orientation affect output, especially for solar panels that need unobstructed sunlight.
- Place solar panels in open areas for maximum sunlight exposure.
- Add wind turbines only on planets that list wind energy.

Food Production
Colonists are fed by growing hydroponic vegetables and synthesizing Vitromeat. Both food sources require water, power and dedicated building modules, creating a direct link between resource extraction and sustenance.
Maintaining a steady food supply prevents starvation and keeps colonists productive as the population expands. Water and power consumption rise with each additional farm or synth, so monitoring those inputs is essential for long‑term stability.
- Mix vegetable farms with Vitromeat synths to diversify nutrition sources.
- Track water usage closely; food production is water‑intensive.

Resource Mining and Production
Mining extracts raw metal, which can be processed into refined goods needed for construction and advanced modules. The extraction‑to‑refinement chain links early resource gathering with later expansion steps.
Raw resources must be refined before they can be used for building or manufacturing bots, so positioning processing facilities near mines reduces transport time and keeps the production line efficient.
- Locate mining sites close to processing units to shorten transport routes.
- Prioritize metal extraction early to unlock later structures.

Colonist Management and Bots
Immigration flow can be controlled to ensure you have colonists with the right skills for construction, farming or engineering. Skilled workers improve efficiency across all tasks, from building structures to maintaining power systems.
Bots can be built to handle arduous jobs such as mining or material transport, freeing colonists for higher‑level duties and helping the base survive disasters like meteors or sandstorms.
- Balance new arrivals with existing skill gaps to keep all tasks covered.
- Deploy bots to repetitive tasks like mining to free skilled colonists.
