About Patch Quest
Patch Quest drops you onto Patchlantis, a jungle island where a nightly storm reshuffles the patchwork maze. The game blends roguelike runs, metroid‑vania‑style exploration, and monster‑taming, demanding quick reflexes and strategic collection.
Armed with a monster‑taming Lasso, you can capture over 50 creatures, unlock a network of shortcuts, and gather more than 200 plants, minerals, and ammo fruits. Defeat returns you to base camp, making each run a fresh challenge.
01 / THE GUIDE
Shuffling Maze
Patchlantis is described as a "twisting labyrinth" whose "patchwork terrain will get shuffled each night by a powerful storm." This nightly reshuffle means the layout you learned in one run may be completely different in the next, requiring continual adaptation.
Because the terrain changes only between runs, each attempt starts with an unknown configuration. Players must rely on the information gathered during the current run to navigate, rather than assuming any permanent landmarks persist across shuffles.
- Observe the terrain layout early in each run to plan immediate routes.
- Focus on discovering shortcuts within the current maze rather than searching for static landmarks.

Monster Taming
The game provides a monster‑taming Lasso that lets you mount any monster and claim its skills. There are "more than 50 monster species" and each species possesses a unique set of abilities such as flying, swimming, or leaping.
Captured monsters become pets that can be leveled up, expanding both combat options and traversal capabilities. Their varied skills let you approach hazards in multiple ways, encouraging strategic selection of which creature to use for each encounter.
- Match a monster’s movement ability to the terrain challenge you expect to face.
- Balance combat‑focused and mobility‑focused monsters to keep options open.

Shortcuts & Power‑ups
Patch Quest features "countless shortcuts to unlock" and "powerups to earn," which together let players venture deeper into the island. Unlocking gates and opening shortcuts grants access to higher‑tier zones with tougher monsters.
These mechanics reward exploration because deeper zones contain richer collectibles. By prioritising shortcut discovery, you can reduce travel time and reach challenging areas more efficiently within a single run.
- Record which shortcuts lead to higher‑tier zones before spending resources elsewhere.
- Combine power‑ups with monster abilities to smooth navigation through hazards.

Collectibles
The description mentions "over 200 unique plants and minerals" and "ammo fruits" that can be blended into "powerful ammo smoothies." Collecting these items expands the pool of resources you can use during runs.
Ammo smoothies are presented as combat‑enhancing consumables, while plants and minerals add variety to the exploration loop. Some progression is permanent: exploration gadgets permanently expand your mechanics, and monsters can be leveled up and kept as pets.
- Gather ammo fruits early; smoothies provide immediate combat benefits.
- Catalog rare plants and minerals to know which finds are most abundant.

Multiplayer Co‑op
Patch Quest lists "Co‑op," "Shared/Split Screen Co‑op," and "Remote Play Together," allowing multiple players to explore the same shuffled maze together. All participants share the same terrain, monster‑taming tools, and shortcut system.
Playing co‑op lets players coordinate monster abilities and shortcut discovery as they explore together. Working together can speed progression by covering more ground and sharing information about the maze layout.
- Assign each teammate a monster role (flyer, swimmer, etc.) to cover all movement types.
- Communicate discovered shortcuts to avoid redundant exploration.
