About Paper Animal Adventure
Paper Animal Adventure is a cute roguelike where players explore procedurally generated maps, battle enemies, and chase a story about a missing king. The game draws visual inspiration from Paper Mario, Mario & Luigi and Pokémon Mystery Dungeon, giving it a colorful paper‑like look.
Ten animal characters are divided into power, utility and defense roles. Players can steal cookpots to craft consumables, collect stickers for passive abilities, and face bosses that gain stronger alternate forms during Rewind Runs. Six difficulty levels and Steam achievements add optional challenge and completion goals.

Characters and Roles
The roster includes ten animal characters, each labeled as power, utility or defense. This label indicates the type of skills the character can equip, guiding players toward builds that match the character’s intended function.
Choosing a role influences how the character handles combat and obstacles: power characters focus on damage, utility characters on supportive actions, and defense characters on survivability. The role does not restrict movement or story progression.
- Try a defense character first if you prefer a forgiving early experience.
- Switch between power and utility characters in separate runs to compare skill interactions.

Procedural Maps & Rewind Runs
Every run generates a new map layout, ensuring that each exploration feels fresh. The procedural system creates room connections and item placements without a fixed pattern.
When a Rewind Run is started, each boss appears in an alternate, stronger version. The boss upgrade adds a tougher challenge on top of the run.
- Observe the layout of the first few rooms across runs to notice any recurring structures.
- Use a Rewind Run after mastering a boss to test how the stronger version feels.

Items and Stickers
Players can steal cookpots from enemy camps and combine them to create new consumable items. The combination system lets you experiment with different ingredient mixes for varied effects.
Stickers are found during exploration and grant passive abilities. Some stickers are holographic, which the description notes as more powerful than regular stickers.
- Collect several stickers before committing to a build so you can compare their passive effects.
- Try different cookpot combinations early to discover useful consumables.
