About Painkiller
Painkiller reimagines the classic franchise as a co‑op action shooter set in a gothic Purgatory. Up to three players can team up online, while a full offline mode also exists. Players confront demonic hordes and three massive Nephilim children of Azazel, seeking redemption from the Voice of the Creator.
The game offers four distinct Champions—Ink, Void, Sol and Roch—each with unique perks affecting energy, health, power or damage. Movement includes jumping, dashing and a grappling hook, and combat is enhanced by tarot cards and a new Rogue Angel Mode featuring randomized arenas.

Co‑op Play
Painkiller supports cooperative play for up to three participants, allowing friends to join online. The co‑op experience runs alongside the main campaign, letting players face the same enemy waves together.
Co‑op is also available in the separate Rogue Angel Mode, where teams battle in handcrafted, randomized arenas. This mode extends the core gameplay beyond the story while keeping the same combat mechanics.
- Coordinate character perks to cover each other's weaknesses.
- Experiment with different team sizes to find the most comfortable pacing.

Character Selection
Players choose from four Champions—Ink, Void, Sol and Roch—each granting a specific perk that boosts energy, health, power or damage. Selecting a character tailors your combat style for the challenges ahead.
These perks are active throughout both the main campaign and Rogue Angel Mode, allowing consistent strategic choices regardless of the arena.
- Match a character’s perk to the enemy type you expect to encounter.
- Swap characters between runs to experience different perk impacts.

Tarot Card System
Tarot cards can be used to enhance abilities during combat. Players may combine card effects with each other to increase damage output or survivability against demon hordes.
The system works in both solo and co‑op sessions, providing an extra layer of tactical depth when confronting larger enemies or the Nephilim.
- Pair cards that complement your character’s perk for maximum effect.
- Reserve powerful cards for boss encounters to manage health more efficiently.
