About Orcs Must Die! 2
Orcs Must Die! 2 expands the trap‑based action of its predecessor with a new story‑driven campaign and an Endless Mode that sends waves of orcs and new monsters at the player. Players choose between the melee‑oriented War Mage and the spell‑focused Sorceress to defend forts, mines and other locations.
The game supports solo play and two‑player co‑op via online or LAN connections. Over 50 traps, weapons and guardians can be upgraded through a system with more than 225 persistent upgrades, and Steam integration adds achievements, cloud saves, leaderboards and family sharing.
01 / THE GUIDE
War Mage and Sorceress
The War Mage is described as a headstrong hero who charges into danger, offering a direct combat approach. The Sorceress is called more strategic, using mind‑control and magic to keep enemies at bay, providing a contrasting playstyle.
Both characters are available in single‑player and co‑op matches, and each can access the full roster of traps, weapons and guardians, allowing players to build defenses without restriction based on the chosen hero.
- Test each hero in a short match to see which matches your preferred trap layout.
- In co‑op, pair the War Mage with the Sorceress for a mix of aggression and control.

Campaign, Endless and Classic Modes
The story‑based campaign picks up where the original left off and can be played alone or with a partner, presenting a sequence of levels that advance the narrative while requiring defensive strategy.
Endless Mode pits players against infinite waves that become increasingly difficult, and it also supports solo or co‑op play. Owners of the original on Steam automatically unlock co‑op versions of ten classic levels featuring new enemies.
- Use Endless Mode to experiment with trap combinations before tackling later campaign levels.
- Try Classic Mode to experience familiar levels with the added co‑op option.

Enemy Types
The game features over twenty enemy varieties, including Earth Elementals, Trolls and Bile Bats, alongside familiar foes from the first title. Each enemy type has its own movement and attack patterns that influence trap placement.
A scoring system records performance and feeds into Steam leaderboards for both single‑player and co‑op, allowing players to compare results with others.
- Observe enemy paths to position area‑damage traps where groups converge.
- Place guardians where they can intercept enemies that move along predictable routes.

Traps, Weapons and Guardians
Players can choose from more than fifty traps, weapons and guardians, ranging from classic spikes to magical trinkets. These items can be upgraded through a system that contains over 225 persistent upgrades, letting players refine their arsenal over time.
Upgrades remain unlocked across play sessions, so a player can build a consistent strategy and improve it gradually as they progress through the game.
- Focus early upgrades on a few core defenses to increase their impact quickly.
- Combine ranged weapons with area‑effect guardians for layered protection.
