About Oh Deer
Oh Deer is a multiplayer hide‑and‑seek game where one player becomes the hunter and up to nine others become deer. Deer must keep their tummy full, blend in with NPC deer, and use fart, hide, and run actions to avoid detection.
The hunter tracks, hunts, and chases the deer across eight distinct maps, trying to spot the players among the herd. If the hunter’s sanity drops to zero, surviving deer can transform into a Wendigo and turn the hunt on the hunter.

Gameplay Basics
Each round starts with a single hunter and up to nine deer. Deer act natural among NPC deer, using fart, hide, and run actions while keeping their tummy full, as described in the game’s core description.
The hunter uses tracking abilities to locate players who behave too human. The hunter’s sanity drops when they chase the wrong deer or take too long, leading to a Wendigo transformation for the deer.
- Observe NPC deer movement patterns and try to match them when hiding.
- Watch the hunter’s pacing; rapid chases often indicate higher sanity loss.

Maps and Environment
Oh Deer offers eight unique maps, each with its own layout and hiding opportunities. Players must adapt to each environment to find optimal concealment spots among the NPC herd.
Map geometry influences both deer and hunter tactics; a well‑chosen hiding spot can make the difference between survival and capture, while hunters must learn new routes for each map.
- Explore map corners early to discover unexpected cover.
- Notice where NPC deer congregate to blend in more convincingly.

Sanity Mechanic
The hunter’s sanity is a resource that declines when they hunt the wrong deer or take excessive time. When sanity reaches zero, deer gain the ability to become a Wendigo, shifting the hunt onto the hunter.
This creates tension for both sides: hunters must act quickly and accurately, while deer aim to prolong the hunt and force the sanity drop, making sanity management a central strategic element.
- Hunters should verify a deer’s identity before committing to a chase.
- Deer can use the fart cooldown to extend the hunt.

Custom Game Settings
Players can adjust game parameters through custom settings, allowing them to tailor chaos to their preference. One adjustable option mentioned is the fart delay, which can be reduced for faster gameplay.
Changing settings lets groups experiment with pacing and difficulty, creating a personalized experience each session without altering core mechanics.
- Reduce fart delay for faster rounds if you enjoy rapid action.
- Try different setting combinations to find a balance that suits your group.

- Use a DualSense controller if you prefer gamepad input.
- Earn Steam achievements to track milestones.
