About Odd Realm
Odd Realm lets you launch a kingdom from one of five distinct races, each offering its own playstyle. You choose a procedurally generated landscape—desert, mountain, island, or tundra—and shape it with whatever structures your resources allow.
The game blends simulation and strategy, letting you research race‑specific technologies, outfit settlers, and defend against raiders, invading armies, and underground horrors. Dynamic weather, seasons, and a sprawling world map add depth to the ever‑changing kingdom management experience.

Races and Playstyles
Five races are available at the start, each providing a unique approach to kingdom development. Their distinct playstyles influence how you manage settlers, prioritize research, and interact with the environment. Choosing a race determines which research options and blueprints become accessible, shaping the overall strategy you employ throughout the game.
- Compare early research trees of each race to see which aligns with your preferred building style.
- Observe how different tools affect resource gathering in different biomes.

Procedurally Generated Biomes & Weather
The world generates unlimited deserts, mountains, tropical islands, and frozen tundras, each with its own weather patterns and seasonal cycles. These conditions affect the resources you can harvest and the challenges you face. Dynamic weather and seasons are unique to each biome, influencing settlement planning and the difficulty of encounters.
- Scout multiple biomes early to gauge resource variety before settling.
- Note how seasonal changes alter animal and plant availability.

Research Tree & Blueprints
A race‑specific research tree unlocks new blueprints and rooms, expanding construction options as you progress. Each advancement opens fresh possibilities for building and defense. Research choices directly affect what structures you can erect, allowing tailored development that matches your chosen playstyle.
- Prioritize research that unlocks essential rooms for early survival.
- Balance blueprint unlocks between defensive and resource‑gathering structures.

Settlement Building & Mining
You can construct any building type using local resources, from sandstone castles to underground fortresses. Digging mines reveals tombs, dormant gods, and deep lakes populated by mysterious creatures. Depth matters: mining deep can uncover tombs, dormant gods, and lakes filled with creatures, but going too deep carries risk.
- Plan building placement near abundant resources to reduce transport time.
- Monitor how deep you dig to avoid unexpected hazards.

Combat & Raiders
Your kingdom must repel raiders, invading armies, and underground horrors that threaten stability. Settlers can be equipped with tools, weapons, and gear to strengthen defenses. Encounter difficulty varies with biome choice, as each environment supplies different challenges and resources for combat preparation.
- Equip settlers with gear that matches the typical threats of your chosen biome.
- Observe raider patterns to time defensive upgrades effectively.
