About Nine Parchments
Nine Parchments follows a group of apprentice wizards who abandon the Astral Academy to collect the legendary Nine Parchments. Each wizard begins with three elemental spells and must learn to combine them while avoiding friendly fire and reviving fallen allies.
The game can be played solo or with up to three friends, either online or on the same couch. A separate Astral Challenges mode offers arena‑only combat, and progression unlocks new wizards, hats, and staves as players level up through skill trees.

Co‑op Play
Nine Parchments lets you play alone or with up to three friends, using either online connections or local split‑screen on the same couch. All content, including story missions and arena challenges, is available in both solo and co‑op sessions.
The game’s friendly‑fire system means spells affect allies as well as enemies, so teammates must watch each other's positions. Shared‑screen and split‑screen options let groups coordinate movement and spell timing without needing separate displays.
- Arrange players so area spells have clear space around allies.
- Agree on a simple call‑out when casting large‑radius spells.

Spellbook Building
Each wizard starts with three spells drawn from different elements. Recovering a parchment adds another spell to the shared pool, expanding the options available to every player.
Skill points earned from leveling can be spent on talents that amplify spells. This system lets players shape a spellbook that matches their preferred combat approach, whether focusing on crowd control, damage, or utility.
- Experiment with elemental mixes to discover unexpected combos.
- Prioritize talent upgrades for the spells you use most often.

Astral Challenges Mode
Astral Challenges is a free arena mode added after launch. It removes story elements and concentrates on combat, using the same spells and talent system as the main campaign.
The mode can be played solo or in co‑op, offering a focused environment for testing spell combos and teamwork without narrative interruptions.
- Use this mode to practice timing for high‑damage spells.
- Try different wizard pairings to see which elemental interactions feel strongest.

Gear and Unlocks
Progression unlocks additional apprentice wizards, fashionable hats, and powerful staves. These items become available as you level up through the skill trees as you progress through the game.
While hats are described as fashionable and staves as powerful, the official information only confirms their availability; it does not detail any direct impact on spell mechanics.
- Check the unlock screen after each level‑up to see new gear options.
- Note the visual differences between hats and staves for personal preference.
