About New Heights: Realistic Climbing and Bouldering
New Heights delivers a climbing and bouldering simulation built by real climbers, featuring physics‑driven mechanics that consider grip, balance, body position and hold direction. The game offers over 280 photogrammetry‑based routes across European crags, letting players tackle everything from quick boulders in Fontainebleau to longer climbs at Freÿr.
Beyond authentic climbing, the title includes a Unity‑based workshop for custom routes and locations, optional free‑solo challenges, and leaderboards for timing competition. Full controller support and Steam Cloud round out the experience for solo play on Windows.
01 / THE GUIDE
Realistic Physics Mechanics
The climbing system uses physics‑based mechanics that evaluate grip, balance, body position and the direction of each hold. Dyno moves are also supported, letting players launch between holds as in real climbing.
These mechanics aim to replicate the feeling of real climbing, requiring careful weight distribution and precise hand placement to progress up a route.
- Observe how your center of mass shifts when reaching for distant holds.
- Practice small adjustments before attempting a dyno for smoother motion.

European Route Collection
More than 280 routes are modeled from real European locations using photogrammetry and drone data. Players can climb quick boulders in Fontainebleau or longer 30‑minute routes at Freÿr, Belgium, as well as historic sites like castle ruins.
The variety lets climbers experience diverse rock types and settings without leaving their computer, and new content is added regularly.
- Start with shorter boulders to learn hold patterns before tackling longer routes.
- Compare the visual style of different crags to anticipate rock texture.

Free Solo Mode
The game includes a free‑solo option, allowing players to climb without safety nets from the safety of their computer. This mode lets you attempt routes that are inaccessible or prohibited in real life.
Free solo climbing adds tension by removing artificial protection, mirroring the mental challenge climbers face when climbing without gear.
- Treat free solo attempts as practice for mental focus, not just speed.
- Use visual cues on the wall to plan your line before committing.

Workshop Creation Tools
A Unity‑based workshop lets players design custom locations and routes. Users can place pre‑made holds or import any 3D model to climb, and even edit pitches on existing crags.
The tool encourages community sharing, expanding the game’s content beyond the built‑in European routes.
- Experiment with imported models to discover new climbing geometries.
- Share your creations to see how others solve your custom problems.

Leaderboards and Stats
Players can optionally compete on leaderboards for the fastest times on each route, comparing their performance with friends and the broader community. The game also tracks personal statistics for each climb.
These features add a competitive edge while still supporting solo enjoyment of the climbing experience.
- Review your personal stats to identify which hold types slow you down.
- Use leaderboard rankings as motivation to refine technique.
