About Nested Lands
Nested Lands is a multiplayer settlement‑building RPG set in a plague‑ravaged world where bandits and twisted madmen roam. Players start with an empty plot, assign peasants to gather, craft, or construct, and must survive harsh weather, random events, and hostile forces. Every decision is tracked and can lead to a thriving village or a fatal outbreak.
The game offers solo play and online co‑op, full controller support, Steam achievements, custom volume controls, and Steam Cloud integration. Players can recruit survivors, manage dozens of upgradable buildings, and craft hundreds of items while contending with disease, winter, and relentless danger.
01 / THE GUIDE
Settlement Management
Survival hinges on balancing resource collection, building construction, and defensive upgrades. Dozens of upgradable structures let you shape the economy, while careful planning of food, medicine, and shelter protects the settlement from sudden collapse.
Random events provide no respite, so anticipating shortages and reinforcing defenses before winter or enemy raids is essential. The detailed world forces long‑term preparation to avoid rapid decline.
- Prioritize farms early to secure food before winter.
- Upgrade defensive structures alongside resource generators for resilience.

Peasant Roles
Each peasant can be assigned a specific role—gathering, crafting, or building—and will act on the orders you give. Their work directly influences the flow of resources and the speed of settlement growth.
New peasants can be saved and recruited during travel, expanding your workforce. Recruits still require protection from hostile forces and harsh weather, linking recruitment to overall security.
- Assign more peasants to gathering when resources run low.
- Keep a few peasants idle as a reserve for unexpected attacks.

Weather and Seasons
Brutal weather and the coming winter are described as your greatest foes, threatening food supplies and health. Preparing for cold periods is necessary to avoid rapid decline.
The world is highly detailed and filled with random events that offer no rest, meaning you must stockpile essentials and build shelters capable of withstanding severe conditions.
- Stockpile medicine before the first winter to avoid sudden loss.
- Construct shelters that can endure severe weather events.

Multiplayer Co‑op
Nested Lands supports online co‑op, allowing friends to join your settlement or explore the world together. Friends can join the same online session and cooperate on managing the settlement or exploring together.
Co‑op does not replace core settlement mechanics; you still manage peasants, resources, and defenses while coordinating tasks with allies.
- Communicate role assignments with teammates to avoid duplicate tasks.
- Coordinate resource gathering early so the group is prepared for hostile encounters.

Crafting and Buildings
Crafting is central to survival; you can create items, improve skills, and construct dozens of buildings. Hundreds of craftable items let you customize farms, animal pens, and defensive structures.
Expanding building options and improving crafting skills directly affect how well your settlement can withstand disease, weather, and attacks.
- Focus on crafting medicine early to mitigate plague threats.
- Upgrade farms before expanding to animal pens for balanced food production.
