About NavalArt

NavalArt is an indie PC sandbox where players design, build, and command warships spanning historic eras. In dock you assemble parts supplied by the game or the Steam Workshop, shaping hulls, armor, and even tiny anchor chains with a high degree of freedom.

Beyond construction, the game offers Quick Battles, Operations, a carrier‑based RTS air system, anti‑air test scenes, Gallery Mode, and both PvP and co‑op multiplayer. Ongoing updates add new stages, weapons, and community‑driven content, keeping the naval sandbox evolving.

01 / THE GUIDE

Ship Design

In dock, players place and adjust parts offered by the base game or the mod community, forming hull shapes, armor layouts, and detailed components such as anchor chains. Each property influences performance, so designers must consider material and placement before trial runs.

The freedom to mix historic and modern components—from ironclad frames to contemporary missile launchers—lets creators craft unique vessels that can later be tested in combat or displayed in Gallery Mode.

  • Start with a balanced hull shape before adding heavy armament to preserve stability.
  • Use trial runs to compare how different armor configurations affect speed and maneuverability.

02 / THE GUIDE

Combat Arsenal

Quick Battles and Operations grant access to weapons ranging from 19th‑century naval guns to modern missiles, torpedoes, carrier‑based aircraft, and anti‑air systems such as Phalanx CIWS. These tools are used to complete missions and defeat opponents.

An anti‑air test scene lets players evaluate defenses against waves of air strikes, highlighting the impact of layered protection and weapon placement on survivability.

  • Combine long‑range guns with torpedoes to address both surface and submerged threats.
  • Deploy Phalanx CIWS when expecting heavy aerial attacks for reliable point‑defense.

03 / THE GUIDE

Aircraft Carrier RTS

Carrier gameplay adopts an RTS style where altitude functions as a resource for warplanes. Players configure squadrons, assign specializations, and manage altitude to maintain air superiority and launch strikes.

Altitude management forces strategic timing of launches and returns, creating a distinct tactical layer that differs from surface‑only combat.

  • Prioritize altitude‑efficient aircraft for longer engagements.
  • Balance squadron specializations to cover both air‑to‑surface and air‑to‑air roles.

Mod & Workshop Support

NavalArt integrates Steam Workshop for sharing designs and downloading thousands of community‑created parts and ships, expanding the pool of ship designs and mods available in the game.

Continuous updates promise additional parts, stages, and experimental content, encouraging ongoing community contribution and discovery.

  • Browse the Workshop for hull templates that match your intended combat role.
  • Install multiple mods to compare how different weapon sets affect ship balance.
