About Monsters are Coming!

Monsters are Coming! is a tower‑survivor, action‑rogue‑lite where you defend a constantly moving city from endless waves of darkness. You gather wood, stone and gold, place defensive structures, and battle bosses while the city pushes toward an Ark.

The game blends strategic fortification, resource foraging, and persistent progression. Even if your hero falls, the run continues until the city itself is destroyed, encouraging quick re‑engagement and long‑term upgrades.

01 / THE GUIDE

Fortify

Select a Town Hall and place towers such as archery outposts, necromancer towers, or fire‑breathing dragons to protect the moving city.

The city must keep moving forward; if darkness reaches the gates, the run ends, so building and upgrading defenses is essential.

  • Test different tower mixes to see which handle early and late waves best.
  • Upgrade towers that improve efficiency when resources are limited.

02 / THE GUIDE

Forage

Gather wood, stone and gold while navigating the moving landscape. Wood fuels the engines, stone repairs structures, and gold expands the fortress.

Balancing risk and reward is key: stray off the main path for richer loot, but you must return to the city before darkness catches up.

  • Collect compasses at the end of each run to ease future navigation.
  • Prioritise wood early to keep engine burn rates high.

03 / THE GUIDE

Fight

Combat includes battling endless monster hordes and Bad‑Ass bosses. You can improve abilities, overcome environmental obstacles, and wield special weaponry.

Defeating bosses and surviving waves unlocks upgrades and moves the city closer to the Ark.

  • Observe each boss’s pattern to time special weapon usage.
  • Upgrade abilities that complement your chosen tower layout.

04 / THE GUIDE

Progression

Level up and purchase new districts from the city shop, placing them strategically for each run. Progression persists across attempts, allowing stronger builds over time.

Even if the hero dies, the run continues until the city is destroyed, encouraging quick re‑engagement.

  • Invest in districts that boost resource generation for longer runs.
  • Explore hidden shelters for rarer rewards that accelerate progression.

05 / THE GUIDE

Controller Support

The game includes full controller compatibility, supporting DualShock and DualSense devices.

Steam Cloud is supported, allowing your progress to be synced across computers that share the same Steam account.

  • Use Steam Cloud to keep runs backed up automatically.
  • Choose the controller layout you find most comfortable for combat.
