About Monster Train

Monster Train pits you against heavenly forces as you defend a burning pyre aboard a train traveling through three vertical play fields. The game blends roguelike deck‑building with strategic positioning, letting you choose routes, upgrade champions, and recruit units across five distinct clans. Each run offers a fresh deck from over 220 cards, with upgrades, duplications, and random events shaping a unique experience. Multiplayer modes, daily challenges, and custom challenges extend replayability beyond the single‑player campaign.

01 / THE GUIDE

Clan Selection and Deck Building

Players start by picking a primary and a supporting clan, unlocking all cards from both clans for the run. Each of the five clans has its own gameplay style and ten unlock levels that add new cards, allowing diverse strategies.

Decks begin with ten starter decks, and you can improve cards by mixing upgrades, duplicate favorite cards at special map nodes, and tailor the deck to your playstyle.

  • Combine clans with complementary mechanics to broaden your card pool.
  • Use duplication nodes to secure key cards for later encounters.

02 / THE GUIDE

Map Navigation and Upgrades

The map presents powerful locations that grant benefits such as champion upgrades, unit recruitment, card upgrades, passive bonuses, or card duplication. Choosing routes carefully influences the resources you acquire before the final boss.

Upgrading your clan‑specific champion multiple times and improving cards twice expands strategic options and opens new paths to victory.

  • Prioritize locations that match your deck’s weaknesses.
  • Upgrade the champion early to boost overall survivability.
