About MISERY

MISERY is a co‑op rogue‑lite survival game where players act as PMCs protecting a secret research institute in the Republic of Zaslavie. When a nuclear siren sounds, you have exactly 60 seconds to grab supplies and reach the bunker before the blast.

After the initial strike, each day you launch raids into a procedurally generated Exclusion Zone, scavenge for food, water, and artifacts, then return to the bunker before nightfall to manage resources, expand the shelter, and trade with a merchant.

01 / THE GUIDE

Co‑op Survival Gameplay

Players cooperate as PMCs during daylight raids, exploring abandoned bases, research stations, and ruined cities while confronting other survivors, mutated creatures, and traps that threaten health and supplies.

Teamwork is essential because vitals such as hunger, thirst, radiation, and stress are shared concerns; excessive stress can cause hallucinations that may turn teammates against each other.

  • Keep a quick visual on each teammate’s vitals to prevent surprise deaths.
  • Coordinate loot distribution early to avoid over‑burdening any single player.

Procedural Zones

Each raid generates new locations within the Exclusion Zone, ranging from military bases to radioactive wastelands, ensuring that the layout, traps, and hidden secrets differ each run.

Anomalies appear unpredictably; some provide benefits while others are lethal, and they frequently conceal rare artifacts with unique, distorted effects.

  • Move cautiously around unknown phenomena; not every anomaly is helpful.
  • Mark safe corridors on your map to reduce time spent navigating traps.

03 / THE GUIDE

Bunker Management

The bunker serves as a home base where you can expand rooms, install generators (gas, solar, or gnome‑powered), build crafting stations, grow food, and place salvaged furniture.

After each raid you can relax in the basement bar, trade loot and artifacts with a merchant, and monitor vitals to avoid hunger, thirst, radiation sickness, or mental breakdown.

  • Prioritize generator upgrades that match your typical raid length.
  • Maintain a stockpile of food and water to buffer against extended scavenging.

04 / THE GUIDE

Anomalies & Artifacts

Anomalies are mysterious phenomena with unknown origins; they can either aid or destroy players, and their areas often hide artifacts—rare items altered by the anomalies and carrying unique effects.

Artifacts can be sold to the merchant, adding a strategic decision point about whether to keep them for personal use or trade them for resources.

  • Collect artifacts only when you have a safe route back to the bunker.
  • Observe anomaly behavior before entering to decide if the risk is worthwhile.

Audio & Control Options

MISERY provides custom volume controls, stereo and surround sound, and supports DualShock, DualSense, partial controller input, as well as keyboard‑only and mouse‑only modes, allowing players to choose their preferred setup.

Progress can be saved at any time, synced via Steam Cloud, and the game supports LAN co‑op, Family Sharing, and online multiplayer.

  • Adjust volume sliders to highlight ambient stress cues that signal nearby anomalies.
  • Test controller support before a raid to ensure comfortable handling of timed input.
