About Mirror's Edge Catalyst

Mirror's Edge™ Catalyst puts players in the shoes of Faith, a free‑runner battling oppression in the futuristic city of Glass. The game is presented from a first‑person view, letting you blend fluid movement with combat as you explore rooftops, tunnels, and illuminated streets. The open city encourages constant motion: sprint along wires, scale walls, and use momentum‑based attacks. By maintaining speed you generate Focus, which protects you from enemy hits, while gadgets expand your traversal options. All gameplay is single‑player and supports full controller input.

01 / THE GUIDE

Traversal

Traversal lets Faith zip down wire lines, balance on pipes, and swing around corners. You can run vertically and horizontally on any wall, using the environment to bridge gaps and reach new areas. The Shift move provides a short burst of acceleration, and Quickturn lets you spin 90° or 180° instantly, enabling rapid changes in direction during high‑speed runs.

  • Use Shift before a long gap to keep momentum.
  • Quickturn can help avoid obstacles when speed drops.

02 / THE GUIDE

Focus

Focus is a resource gained from free‑running; when full, enemies cannot hit Faith. Maintaining high speed and avoiding attacks preserves Focus, while low speed or taking damage drains it. Balancing out‑traversing opponents with direct engagement is essential to keep Focus active throughout combat encounters.

  • Keep moving after a hit to recover Focus quickly.
  • Plan routes that let you chain movement for steady Focus gain.

03 / THE GUIDE

Momentum

Momentum builds as you run, allowing daring jumps between rooftops and stylish slides through tight spaces. The Shift move adds a brief acceleration boost in any direction, enhancing jump distance. Quickturn lets you tweak any move with a rapid turn, helping you maintain momentum when navigating complex geometry.

  • Chain Shift and Quickturn to extend jumps.
  • Maintain speed to build momentum for bigger jumps.

04 / THE GUIDE

Combat

Combat combines heavy traversal attacks that throw enemies into walls with light attacks that flow using momentum. Stringing light attacks builds Focus while keeping speed high. Shift can be used to close distance for a kick, and a stun allows rapid punches before shifting away to avoid retaliation.

  • Use light attacks while moving to preserve Focus.
  • After a stun, follow with a quick Shift to reposition.

05 / THE GUIDE

Gadgets

Faith’s abilities are expanded with hardware that aids traversal and resistance against KrugerSec. These tools complement her martial arts and free‑running skills, offering new ways to navigate the city. While specific gadget functions are not detailed, they are presented as integral to rising against the oppression in Glass.

  • Experiment with each gadget in open areas first.
  • Combine gadget use with momentum for smoother routes.
