01 / THE GUIDE
Puzzle Structure
Each level is a self‑contained screen that challenges you to manipulate magnetic forces. You must position blocks, activate doors, or cross empty spaces using the abilities of your magnet companions.
More than 50 puzzles are arranged in five distinct worlds, as you work your way up the factory toward the exit.
- Observe how each magnet friend’s power interacts with the environment before committing to a move.
- Experiment with different block placements; the single‑screen layout rewards trying different approaches.

Magnet Friends
You are joined by three magnet companions, each delivering a unique problem‑solving ability. Their powers let you move objects, open pathways, or traverse gaps that would otherwise be impassable.
Borrowing a friend’s ability is required for many puzzles, making the choice of which companion to summon a core part of each level’s strategy.
- Match the friend’s ability to the obstacle you face; some obstacles call for moving blocks while others call for opening doors.
- Switch companions early if you feel stuck; a different power may suggest a new approach.

Developer Commentary
An optional commentary track runs alongside the gameplay, offering insights from creator Mark Brown about how the game was made. This turns the playthrough into a brief lesson on game design.
Listening to the commentary can deepen your appreciation of the mechanics and may hint at design intentions that influence how you approach later challenges.
- Enable commentary on your first run to learn the design rationale behind each mechanic.
- Replay a level without commentary after learning the concepts to test your own problem‑solving.

Controller Support
The title lists full controller support, including DualShock and DualSense compatibility. This means you can navigate menus, move characters, and interact with puzzles using a gamepad.
Controller input works across all puzzle screens, providing a consistent experience when using a supported gamepad.
- Try both DualShock and DualSense controllers to see which feels more comfortable for precise block placement.
- If you encounter difficulty, consider switching to a different controller type to compare handling.

Mind Over Magnet integrates several Steam‑specific services: achievements track milestone completions, cloud saves preserve progress across installations, and family sharing is available for the game.
These features operate independently of the core puzzle mechanics, offering convenience and optional goals for players who use the Steam platform.
