About MewnBase
MewnBase lets you play as a space‑cat stranded on an uncharted planet. The 2D world starts empty, so you must gather resources, craft base modules, and survive the planet’s hazards.
The game blends exploration, crafting, and base management. You can research artifacts for new recipes, build vehicles for long trips, and cope with day/night cycles and weather while keeping power, air, and water in balance.
01 / THE GUIDE
Exploration & Survival
You begin on a barren world with limited supplies, which forces you to search the terrain for raw materials. The planet features day/night cycles that affect visibility, making daylight the safest time to explore.
Weather hazards such as thunderstorms and sandstorms make it important to batten down the hatches, so planning construction during calm periods helps keep your base safe.
- Scout early in daylight to maximize resource finds before darkness arrives.
- Watch the sky for signs of approaching storms and pause building when they appear.
02 / THE GUIDE
Crafting Base Modules
Collected resources feed a workbench that lets you assemble a variety of base modules, from airlocks to rain‑water collectors. Each module adds a specific function to your outpost.
All modules draw power from a single outlet, so expanding your solar panel network becomes necessary as you add more devices.
- Build essential life‑support modules like airlocks and water collectors first.
- Consider the power draw of each new module before adding it.

03 / THE GUIDE
Technology Upgrades
Strange artifacts are scattered across the planet. Researching them unlocks new crafting recipes and technology upgrades, expanding what you can build.
These upgrades expand your crafting options, giving you more choices for developing your base over time.
- Pick up every artifact you encounter; each may lead to useful upgrades.
- Compare newly unlocked recipes with existing ones to spot efficiency gains.
04 / THE GUIDE
Managing Base Resources
Your base requires clean air, water, and power. Build air cleaners for breathable atmosphere, rain‑water collectors for hydration, and solar panels to keep things powered.
Because all modules share a single power outlet, adding more solar panels is essential to avoid shortages as you expand.
- Balance air cleaning and water collection to keep both life‑support systems active.
- Add solar panels before installing many power‑hungry modules.
05 / THE GUIDE
Vehicles & Weather Hazards
Walking long distances is discouraged; constructing vehicles lets you traverse the planet efficiently and reach distant resource sites.
During thunderstorms or sandstorms, keep your base sealed and ensure generators are fueled and batteries topped off before night falls.
- Construct a vehicle after establishing basic life‑support to explore farther safely.
- Fuel generators and charge batteries before severe weather begins.
