About METAL MAX Xeno Reborn
Metal Max Xeno: Reborn places you in Dystokio, a ruined world where humanity fights the rogue AI NOA. The game is a nonlinear, open‑world JRPG that lets you travel anywhere, regardless of story progress.
You control Talis, can recruit survivors, pilot customizable tanks, and bring the battle dog Pochi into a party of up to four. Survival hinges on scavenging, upgrading, and real‑time combat against relentless machines.
01 / THE GUIDE
Open World Exploration
Dystokio is described as a desolate wasteland where players may roam without limits, even as the narrative advances. This freedom lets you search for survivor camps, hidden dungeons, and salvage across a vast desert and ruined city.
Because travel is not gated by story milestones, you can encounter optional missions and resources at any time. The design encourages thorough scouting and strategic positioning before engaging NOA’s forces.
- Mark survivor locations on your map early.
- Visit high‑salvage zones first.

Real‑Time Vehicle Combat
Combat mixes real‑time action with vehicle usage, allowing attacks from inside a tank or on foot. Battles occur across open desert and within dangerous dungeons, supporting parties of three or four members.
You can disembark from tanks to engage enemies up close, then re‑enter for heavy firepower. This dual mode creates dynamic encounters against NOA’s machines.
- Use tank fire to weaken groups before entering dungeons.
- Switch to foot combat for enemies with weak armor.

Battle Dog Pochi
Pochi can join the party as a fourth member, level up, and learn new skills. Feeding Pochi at the base grants skill points, enabling his growth alongside the human characters.
The dog also responds to petting, providing a simple interaction that reinforces his companion role without affecting combat mechanics.
- Feed Pochi regularly to earn skill points.
- Pet Pochi after battles for a visual cue.

Skill Trees Development
Players can allocate points among five general skill trees: Drive, Repair, Medical, Militia, and Survive. Each tree offers abilities that affect combat, vehicle handling, and survival tactics.
The system is flexible, allowing you to tailor your character and party to preferred roles, whether focusing on offense, support, or vehicle mastery.
- Balance Drive and Repair for smoother tank operation.
- Invest in Medical if you often face heavy damage.

Tank Customization
Scavenging yields new tanks that can be painted, equipped with stronger firepower, and fitted with special equipment. Customization includes swapping engines, upgrading weapons, and adjusting designs.
Endless combinations let you create vehicles that match strategic needs, from fast desert chases to heavy‑fire assaults on fortified positions.
- Prioritize engine upgrades for better mobility.
- Mix weapon types to handle both armored and agile foes.
