About METAL DOGS
Metal Dogs is a casual top‑down shooting action game set in a post‑apocalyptic Japan where a revived dog hero battles monsters in randomly generated dungeons. The player controls one of three voiced dogs and uses a variety of weapons to clear enemies and collect loot.
Early Access provides over 25 quests, more than 35 weapons, and several powerful "WANTED" monsters, offering at least ten hours of single‑player play on Windows with partial controller support.
01 / THE GUIDE
Weapon System
Weapons fall into three categories: machine guns, cannons, and special equipment (S‑E). Machine guns fire quickly with fast reloads, cannons deliver high damage but reload slowly, and S‑E includes ranged attacks such as missiles.
Players can assign any weapon to three slots, allowing a customized load‑out. Equipment may appear with random additional effects, and higher rarity items grant more effects, influencing combat decisions.
- Combine a fast‑firing machine gun with a high‑damage cannon to balance speed and power.
- Check the rarity and extra effects of newly looted gear before equipping it.

Dungeon Variability
Each dungeon reshuffles terrain and treasure chest locations, so repeated runs present different layouts. This changes the paths players can take and the placement of monsters.
Because monster placement also varies, encounters with "WANTED" enemies may appear in new spots, requiring players to adapt their movement and weapon choices each time.
- Explore multiple routes in a single run to locate hidden chests.
- Adjust your weapon slots after observing the current dungeon layout.

Playable Dogs
The game features three canine characters: Shiba Inu Pochi, Doberman Bell, and Bulldog Bonanza. All three are voiced by Hiro Shimono, providing distinct vocal lines for each dog.
Each dog serves as the player’s avatar for movement and shooting; the description does not differentiate gameplay abilities between them.
- Choose the dog whose voice you enjoy most for a more immersive experience.
- Switch dogs if you prefer a different visual style during play.

WANTED Enemies
Certain monsters are labeled "WANTED" and carry a large prize money reward. Notable examples include the giant tank Rommel Ghost and the armored rhinoceros Missileceros.
These foes are described as especially dangerous, making them focal points for players seeking higher rewards within a dungeon run.
- Prepare high‑damage weapons before entering a dungeon that may contain WANTED enemies.
- Observe each WANTED type’s behavior to decide which weapon feels most effective.

Early Access Content
The early‑access release lists over 25 quests, more than 5 types of WANTED monsters, and over 35 weapons. Playtime is noted as exceeding ten hours, indicating a substantial amount of content for initial players.
These elements together form a loop of combat, loot collection, and dungeon exploration that defines the current state of the game.
- Track which quests you have completed to ensure you experience the full range of available content.
- Take note of weapon rarity when looting to understand the distribution of additional effects.
