About Memory Lost: Chapter One
Memory Lost: Chapter One is a story‑driven action shooter that builds combat around mind capturing and moving into enemy bodies. Each new host supplies fresh health, ammunition, and gameplay changes, making body migration essential for survival.
The game features dozens of opponent archetypes, a Neural Network that gathers memories, and three possible endings shaped by the player’s moral choices. It runs on Windows and Linux, offers full controller support, Steam achievements, and family sharing.
01 / THE GUIDE
Mind Capturing
Capturing an opponent’s consciousness is required before you can inhabit their body. The act also copies the enemy’s memories, which the game states are necessary for successful captures.
Without a captured memory the player cannot move into a new host, so mind capturing directly determines the ability to continue fighting.
- Watch enemy patterns before attempting a capture to improve success.
- Target foes whose memories seem relevant to upcoming challenges.
02 / THE GUIDE
Body Migration
After a successful capture, the player migrates into the enemy’s body, inheriting that body’s current health and ammunition. This shift changes the immediate gameplay experience.
If the current weapon’s magazine is empty, moving into a fresh host provides a fully stocked magazine, allowing continued combat without searching for supplies.
- Seek bodies with full ammunition when low on ammo.
- Prioritize healthier hosts to avoid a half‑dead state.

03 / THE GUIDE
Opponent Archetypes
The game includes dozens of archetypes, each with unique characteristics and skills that affect battle outcomes. These differences require the player to adapt capture strategies.
Knowing an archetype’s strengths and weaknesses helps decide which body will best serve the player’s current tactical needs.
- Observe each archetype’s special skills before engaging.
- Match desired abilities with the archetype you intend to capture.
04 / THE GUIDE
Neural Network Development
The protagonist, called the Neural Network, collects material from each migration, gradually forming an independent personality. This knowledge is processed at the Mind‑Map hub location.
The development of the Neural Network reflects player actions and influences later narrative elements, including the final outcome.
- Track the memories you acquire; they shape the Neural Network.
- Visit the Mind‑Map hub when possible to see accumulated knowledge.
05 / THE GUIDE
Karma and Endings
Player choices affect the Neural Network’s karma, leading to one of three possible endings. Actions range from killing for the common good to showing mercy, regardless of consequences.
The ending received is a direct result of the moral path taken throughout the game.
- Consider long‑term impact of each kill or mercy act.
- Experiment with different moral choices in separate playthroughs to view all endings.
