About Mayor May Knott
Mayor May Knott is a 3‑D “creepy‑cozy” adventure where a shy girl becomes mayor of a haunted ghost town. She starts frightened, but by fixing houses, solving puzzles, and befriending monsters she gradually gains confidence and revives the community.
The game features over 30 unique characters, more than 30 original songs, an Ectophone for talking to ghosts, and an Edjukebox that teaches crafting and cooking recipes. A day‑night cycle gives monsters their own schedules, letting players turn the abandoned town into a thriving settlement.
01 / THE GUIDE
Talking to Ghosts with the Ectophone
Early in the game May repairs a device called the Ectophone, which lets her converse with the many ghosts haunting the town’s houses. Learning each ghost’s name is the first step toward helping them remember who they were.
Once a ghost’s name is known, May can locate that ghost’s personal record in the Hall of Records. Those records play the songs that teach new recipes, and fulfilling each ghost’s request leaves behind the key to their house.
- Listen for name clues in each ghost’s dialogue before heading to the Hall of Records.
- After naming a ghost, head straight to the Hall of Records to locate the matching record.

Edjukebox and Recipe Learning
The Hall of Records houses an Edjukebox, a machine that plays original songs from collected records. Each song teaches May a new crafting or cooking recipe, a process the developers call “Edjuke‑ation.”
Those recipes are used to create items that ghosts need, and completing a ghost’s request yields a house key. The loop of music → recipe → item → key drives much of the gameplay.
- Play every record you discover; each adds a useful recipe.
- Keep a short note of which recipe each song provides for quick reference.

Inviting Monsters to Live in Town
Monsters follow day‑night schedules, appearing at specific times and places. Giving a monster a house key—earned from helping a ghost—allows the creature to move in as a permanent resident.
Each new resident helps out around the town in some way, and adding them brings new options and opportunities to meet more ghosts and monsters.
- Observe when each monster appears to plan key deliveries.
- Check the town after delivering a key to confirm the monster has moved in.

Puzzles and Minigames
Mayor May Knott includes puzzles such as deducing a ghost’s name or gathering ingredients for a recipe. Minigames include fishing junk with Reel McKoi and navigating a spooky abandoned mine‑bowling alley.
These challenges often reward records, keys, or new monster encounters, linking them to the town‑building loop and encouraging varied play.
- Take brief notes on puzzle clues; they may reappear later.
- Try each minigame at least once to discover what it yields.

Building a Thriving Community
As May repairs houses, unlocks new areas, and settles monsters, the abandoned ghost town transforms into a lively community. Restored buildings and new residents change the visual feel of the town.
The description suggests the ultimate aim is to convince all monsters, even the tyrannical Dick Tater, to live in the town, completing the cycle of restoration and friendship.
- Keep helping ghosts to collect house keys and grow the town steadily.
- Balance day and night activities to interact with both ghosts and monsters.
