About Mamorukun ReCurse!

Mamorukun ReCurse! drops players into a mysterious Netherworld where a shrine maiden has summoned chosen souls to halt a looming Dark World gate. The story follows Mamorukun and companions as they purify cursed residents while battling the spreading curse. The game blends fast‑paced shooting with a unique curse mechanic: firing small or large curse bullets, gaining temporary power boosts, and managing the risk of being cursed yourself. All previous arcade, story, and action modes return, now with widescreen support and extra gallery features.

01 / THE GUIDE

Story Setup

The narrative begins with Mamorukun narrowly avoiding a car before awakening in the Netherworld. Shrine maiden Jigokudani Fururu explains that a gate to the Dark World is being opened, cursing the realm's residents. Players must purify these cursed inhabitants and stop the gate’s opening, allowing the summoned characters to return to their original world.

  • Observe the shrine maiden’s dialogue for clues about the gate’s location.
  • Take note of which enemies are cursed, as they provide extra score items when defeated.

02 / THE GUIDE

Curse Mechanics

A quick tap fires a small curse bullet that lands directly ahead, creating a field that curses both enemies and the player. Holding the button charges a large curse bullet that travels farther, erases enemy bullets, and grants brief invincibility. While cursed, a player’s power and speed increase, but they cannot fire curse bullets until the curse ends, after which power drops.

  • Use the large curse bullet to clear dense enemy fire before entering a cursed field.
  • Balance the temporary power boost against the loss of shooting ability while cursed.

Game Modes

Arcade Mode reproduces the 2008 arcade experience, letting players select stages and manage activity time. Story Mode, added in the 2009 home version, lets players switch characters to conquer five worlds and now supports widescreen. Netherworld Action Mode, introduced in 2011, lets players choose three characters for predetermined courses. All past modes, characters, costumes, and missions are included, alongside Gallery Mode and Online Rankings.

  • Try Story Mode first to become familiar with character switching across worlds.
  • Use Arcade Mode to practice stage timing before tackling Action Mode courses.

04 / THE GUIDE

Audio Features

The soundtrack opens with the well‑known track “YO‑KAI Disco” and includes all original and arranged BGM. Players can customize which BGM version plays per mode or stage, and a sound test lets them listen to every track. A new theme song by composer Yousuke Yasui is also included, expanding the musical variety beyond the original releases.

  • Experiment with the custom BGM function to match music to your preferred stages.
  • Use the sound test to listen through all the tracks and find favorites that enhance immersion.

Mamorukun ReCurse! runs on Windows via Steam, supporting full controller input, Steam Achievements, Cloud saves, Leaderboards, and Family Sharing.
