About Maldhalla
Maldhalla is a single‑player survival roguelite where you face endless enemy waves and aim to survive longer than the previous minute. Each of the 21 characters begins with a unique weapon, passive ability, and active skill, and enemies grow stronger as time passes.
Every three minutes a boss appears, each with its own attack pattern, and the game offers 32 weapons, relics that trigger from weapon combos, 21 stat‑raising gems, and 60 blessings found in chests. All content unlocks through achievements and rank progression, with save‑anytime and Steam Cloud support.
01 / THE GUIDE
Characters
The roster contains 21 characters, each providing a distinct starting weapon, a passive ability, and an active skill such as the Ranger’s roll, the Paladin’s thrown Mjolnir, or the Bard’s rhythm‑based buff. These abilities define early combat options for each run.
Characters become available by completing achievements and advancing through the six rank tiers. No purchase is required, so progress through play directly expands the pool of heroes you can experiment with.
- Match a character’s active skill to your preferred timing to reduce early deaths.
- Compare passive abilities across characters to discover synergies with your weapon choices.

Weapons and Relics
Maldhalla features 32 weapons covering melee, ranged, area, and elemental types. Holding the correct two or three weapons at once activates a relic, which provides a powerful effect that can change the flow of a run.
Both weapons and relics are unlocked by clearing achievements, so each new weapon adds potential relic combinations. This encourages players to test different pairings each session.
- Try several two‑weapon combos early to see which relics become available.
- Track achievement progress to anticipate the next weapons you will unlock.

Boss Mechanics
A boss appears every three minutes, with each boss—such as the Giant or the Bone Dragon—having its own attack pattern. When a boss returns, it gains additional patterns, increasing its difficulty.
Most first runs end at the Giant, making that encounter a natural early benchmark. Recognising each pattern’s timing is essential for extending survival time.
- Observe the Giant’s slam timing to practice dodging before later bosses arrive.
- Note new patterns on repeat boss fights to anticipate added threats.

Gems and Blessings
There are 21 gem types that raise stats such as Damage, Crit Chance, Evasion, and Lifesteal. Blessings—60 in total—are found in chests and range from Common to Legendary rarity.
Gems and blessings can be mixed to fine‑tune a character’s performance, offering a layer of customization beyond weapons and relics.
- Select gems that complement the strengths of your active skill.
- Blessings range from Common to Legendary, so check what each chest offers.

Progression and Ranks
Progress is tracked through six ranks, from Wanderer up to Conqueror. Achievements unlock new content, ensuring each playthrough can reveal fresh options.
The game allows saving at any time and supports Steam Cloud.
- Review achievement requirements to plan which content you aim to unlock next.
- Use the save‑anytime feature to pause before a difficult boss if needed.
