About Make Way

Make Way is a top‑down multiplayer racing party game that blends chaotic racing with player‑crafted tracks. Inspired by titles like Mashed, Micro Machines and Ultimate Chicken Horse, it lets up to six racers build and race on ever‑growing courses.

Players snap together loops, seesaws, corkscrews and other absurd pieces, then race, weaponise opponents and add new sections after each round until a winner emerges. The game supports split‑screen, online and cross‑platform play with full controller and keyboard options.

01 / THE GUIDE

Track Building

The core loop begins with a pick‑n‑mix menu of track pieces that can be snapped together to form a course. Pieces include loops, seesaws, corkscrews and train crossings, and players can add obstacles and power‑ups as they build.

After each race, new pieces can be bolted onto the existing layout, creating larger and more perilous tracks. This iterative building continues until the final round crowns a winner, after which a fresh course can be started.

  • Experiment with piece placement to create surprising shortcuts or dead ends.
  • Balance hazards with open lanes to keep races competitive.

02 / THE GUIDE

Weaponry and Hazards

Racers can collect wacky weapons such as goo cannons, Tesla coils, giant mallets and rooftop‑mounted shotguns to disrupt opponents. Hazards like barriers and boost‑pads can be placed during track construction to shape the race flow.

Each checkpoint doubles as a respawn point, so players can re‑enter the race after being eliminated, but must beware of newly placed traps that can send them flying off the track.

  • Time your weapon use to hit opponents near checkpoints for maximum impact.
  • Use boost‑pads strategically to launch rivals off curves.

Multiplayer Modes

Make Way supports up to six players locally on the same screen or online via cross‑platform multiplayer. Both split‑screen and shared‑screen configurations are available, allowing friends to race together regardless of hardware.

The recent World Tour update adds Team Mode, letting players cooperate in teams while still competing for the best overall performance.

  • Try Team Mode for a cooperative twist on the usual free‑for‑all chaos.
  • Use the cross‑platform feature to play with friends on different devices.

Customization and Unlocks

Progress in races awards bonus points that contribute toward trophies and unlock new track pieces, hazards and vehicles. The World Tour update introduces eight additional vehicles and three new track environments, expanding visual variety.

Players can toggle traps and safety barriers on or off, creating custom rule sets that make turns easier or more perilous, tailoring the experience to their preferred level of chaos.

  • Turn off safety barriers for a higher‑risk, high‑reward race.
  • Keep racing to unlock fresh vehicles and track pieces.

Accessibility Features

Make Way includes full controller support, keyboard‑only option, adjustable difficulty and custom volume controls, ensuring players can tailor input and audio to their needs. Camera comfort settings help reduce motion discomfort during fast races.

Steam Cloud saves progress, and Remote Play Together lets a host share the game with friends who don’t own it, broadening accessibility across households.

  • Adjust difficulty if races feel too chaotic at first.
  • Enable camera comfort settings for smoother visual tracking.
